I have had sky for 10+ years and I am in no contract, have tv,phone and broadband. Went thought to cancellations told them moving to virgin, was then told once sky cut off after 31 days I would have to pay £120 to have a line put into my house? is this true or are they talking rubbish! I even tried to get discounted rate but was told not entitled to anything even though I pay around £115 a month to them. Any advice?

They are talking absolute rubbish, I have Virgin services and changed from sky, no problem whatsoever!0

Your street/address does have a virgin cable installed already?0

Only time I can see that applying is if you want to keep your phoneline with Sky OR if you are not in a Virgin cabled area and Virgin can only offer ADSL connection.
What do Virgin say your connection charges will be ?I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
Virgin have said I will only have to pay for line rental, virgin is in my street so no problem there I would like to keep my number but I never mentioned this to sky.0

Maybe what they meant was that if you wanted to return to Sky for broadband and telephone you would have to pay to have the line reactivated?
Otherwise as others have said they are talking rubbish and just trying to put you off Virgin.
So are Virgin more or less than Sky for a similar service? That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

Yes, but is it VM (cable), or Virgin National (ADSL)? It may be possible to port the number. No free lunch, and no free laptop

OK because looking at their site it was £7.25 / month for 6 months then £14.50 / month. Plus line rental at £14.50 / month. thats for 30 Mb/s broadband.
Found the offer now http://store.virginmedia.com/bundles/starter.html
You have to add line rental to the prices. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
When I tried togo to bt from virgin they cocked my number up, I lost itDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

No. What it is is that because Sky is LLU so your phone line goes through their equipment at the exchange, if you want to go back to a service that requires a BT line, BT will charge £120 (I think its actually £125) for a new line installation even though effectively all they do is change the routing at the exchange.0
