HTC Customer Service (Or lack of)

Would like to warn people that when sending off your handset to HTC for repair (twice so far), do not send the back cover of the phone as this is classed as an accessory and it will not be returned! WHY??
Obviously I followed this up and have been astonished by the arrogant patronizing manner with which this has been dealt with by the customer service team. They have more or less told me "tough luck, you were told not to send it (I missed it in the call) go online and buy a replacement"???
It seems I am being treated like a complete idiot!
Even if I did mistakenly send the cover with the phone you'd think they would find some way of returning it with the rest of the phone but no, like I stated "tough luck" to me.
Appalling as far as I'm concerned. Wish I had never purchased this phone!
I have also since found out a friend has had a very similar experience with them. Anyone else??

HTC outsourced (they call it 'partners') repair services are notoriously bad.

I can sympathise a little, but I recently sent off a faulty HTC phone and it was made very clear in the written instructions "Do not send the battery, back cover or SIM cover, SD Memory Card, SIM Card and other accessory items included or not in the product's box. All we need is the bare device itself. We can’t be held liable for any of these being sent in as they won’t be returned". I received the repaired phone back after a week, and was pleased with the service.

Standard practice with most mobile companies not to send the back/battery cover. Just about to send a blackberry back for the 4th time, and they always inform me not to include the battery, back, sim card and memory card.

Think it's easy for them to lose them, take the back off, put it to one side, someone else picks it up. etc etc
