The fone hub

Ive done a search and cant find anything about this company so started a thread.

Has anyone had dealings with them? The reason I ask is I sent off my Husbands blackberry torch to them as they offered the highest price £105, I recieved an email on the 13th April from them saying they had recieved the phone and will be processing the order very soon.

I checked on my account page with them on Monday (16th) and on the progress page under payment it says paid, but I havent recieved any money, I requested to be paid by BACS, but under the order process page it still says in progress, Im really confused and a little worried.

They state once they recieved the phone they will pay out in 48 hours, its been almost a week now, Ive tried emailing them but got no reply, I cant find a phone number for them, although that could be a case of me cant see for looking! They have a live chat thing on their page but its always unavailable.

If anyone has had dealings with this company are they ok, have you recieved payment for your phone or the phone sent back if it wasnt suitable for them, thanks.

Was offered a reasonable price compared to other similar recycle sites. Three days after their site showed my phone arrived, they emailed offering 27% less than original offer claiming that the screen was cracked. This was utter rubbish and was sent to them in the original manufacturer packaging so I very much doubt it was damaged in transit.
Since then I've read elsewhere this is a tactic of these con-artists to offer good price then go well below others once they get your phone. Don't be another victim, go with reputable firms instead.

Interesting to note that I was the first reviewer of these scammers on Trustpilot, and within 48 hours another 13 amazing reviews appear that only have written a review for fonehub. Did they get the staff to do them? Well....maybe... if you search on Google "compare recycle fone hub" you'll see "PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH fonehub...!!!" where the self same thing happened

I have refused to let them try and keep the phone with their con trick and said they should return it. Will be interesting to see what they've done to my phone...
  • I sent my blackberry torch into this company also and they replied saying the screen was cracked and broken on the lower right hand side. This was a new handset that's had been sent out by orange after a technical fault on my year and a half old blackberry torch. They offered me £87 for the phone and then said it was worth £30 as the screen was damaged. I put the phone inside another envelope and then into the envelope provided for transit, paid for special delivery and took pictures of the phone to prove it was in perfect condition on posting. I had a blackberry for 18 months, dropped it a number of times and never damaged the screen in any way, it's a pretty hard wearing phone and relatively difficult to damage! This company is clearly ripping people off by doing this, I am pretty certain of this.
  • I'm starting to get worried now. Fonehub received my phones 8 days ago (6 working days) and I still haven't received payment. I sent them several phones totalling about £160 and one of them was an Iphone 4. I have sent them 3 emails and had no reply and even tried calling them but there is no answer. I checked the reviews for this company before I traded in my phones and although there were some bad reviews (like most of them have), most of them were favourable.

So now I'm a bit concerned that I may never receive my money.

Something really should be done about this company. Has anyone gone to Watchdog?
  • For anyone interested or anyone who has any problems with future Fonehub orders.

I finally received an email today with a revised quote. They said that the Iphone that I sent them wasn't working and they were going to offer £55 instead of £135.

I phoned them up and managed to get through to someone and advised that it absolutely was working. They said that they would get someone to retest it and get back to me.

I have just had a call from Fonehub and they have now retested the phone and confirmed that it is in fact in full working order and they will now pay me the full amount.

I'm not sure whether they didn't test it correctly or if they were just trying their luck. I would imagine that a lot of people might just except their revised quote.

Anyway, she said that because the payment has already been delayed they will fast track it and get it paid in to my account by the end of the day.

So, my advice is that if you get sent a revised quote then make sure you contact them and challenge it.
  • I recently used Phonehub to sell my phone "which was in good condition with no scratches or marks, and in use on the day posted" I sent It recorded delivery as recommended by them which cost me £8. The package arrived to them on time as expected!
Then I received an email from them saying that they received my phone and on checking it there was some damage. So all they could offer me for it was £29... Over £100 less than originally Quoted! I have asked them for proof of the damage and of the condition of the package when they received it but no joy...
They still have the phone, And I haven't received money...

So I would suggest that you take with a pinch of salt the other reviews on this site or any other site... some may be true and honest you make your own mind up!!!!!

    Good luck
  • Where is this company getting its excellent reviews????
I was offered £63 each for 2 galaxy s2's then had an email saying they were worth £43 each as coincidentally they were both damaged!!!!
One had never been out of a case!!
They offer good prices to get the phones then rip you off....I think these sites with great reviews are owned by them and I don't believe the reviews are genuine is this legal??
  • Best paying isn't always best - Mazuma is the only one I'd use.
  • I completely agree, I have had a similar experience in the last few days.I have been incredibly disappointed by Fonehub, and having read yours, along with many other customer reviews, it seems as though so will many other people. I was quoted £118 for my Iphone 4 16GB which was in excellent condition - and was then offered a reduced quote of £80. When I phoned to ask for the phone back, I was told that I could be offered a higher price rather than have the phone sent back. What a dishonourable and unprofessional company, I will only use Mazuma from now on!

Why do people seem to research companies AFTER they have engaged them? Surely the time to research is BEFORE?
