is it easy to use  does it work just like a normal phone? my mum and dad are technophobes they can use the internet ok (well my dad can anyway) do they just dial a number and my phone will ring or does it work like messenger where you have to both be online at the same time sort of thing?

They can call your landline for 1.7p a min once they have topped up or if you have skype then they can call you for free. If they want an inbound number then it is £20 for a year and you get an area code for your area aswell.
Things that are free in life are great, well most of the time

The Skype software runs on the PC not the phone so you have to be online with Skype. But when Skype first installs it sets itself to start automatically everytime the PC is turned on. Unlike Messenger there is no sign in so you will always be online as long as the PC is on.

When you first install Skype you create a Skype account with a username. You can then search for and add other users (like MSN).

On the phone handset there is one button labelled Skype. You press it and in the handset display you see a list of your Skype contacts. You just select the one you want to call and press the green dial button on the phone. It's just like using a regular phone.

so if my pc is on but i am in the other room, the skype phone will ring so i will know they are trying to get me yeah?

as my pc is left on most of the time it wont be a problem for me, but just worried if they are trying to get me and im not in the home office i will miss them!!

The handset rings wherever it is (could be up to 50metres away from your PC).

You could also sign up to Skype voicemail so they could leave messages (you have to pay for this service but its not much).
