this is my first dip into the skype world.
so those links that you gave me if the person at the other end has the same sort of skype phone we can talk for free yeah?
someone recommended the cordless skype phone so we dont have to always sit at the computer which would drive me nuts!!!!
its because my mum and dad are moving to singapore and we want to keep in touch for free. so if we both bought these phones before they left the uk they would enable us to talk for free yeah?0 -

Yes and no, yes it would work but no you don't both need to have the same equipment. Anything that can use skype (eg headphones and a microphone) would work. If you wanted something freeroaming then you'd both need something like those phones. Just need to make sure the pcs are switched on when you use them."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Yes. As already mentioned your PC has to be on for the cordless phone to work on Skype. The Linksys is a good product though for just Skype - Skype. Build quality of the handset is excellent, the voice quality is high (as good as a BT landline) and the wireless range is very good.
The Linksys comes with a UK mains adaptor (the handset has rechargeable batteries) so not sure if that would be of any use in Singapore.

If you don't want the PC to be on inorder to make call then a Skype WiFi phone used with a WiFi boardband router can be used
