Had an ATOS assessment today, had serious problems with them before I even got there..
I wanted it recording but they apparently couldn't sort the equipment in time, an then sent the appointment for 3pm even though I asked for it at 11am as i'm a lone parent..
I saw a doctor who moaned because I had 3 kids with me, then he asked if my 11 year old could take my 4 month old outside the room..
I have degenerative disks, am in the WRAG and have been for 3 years..
I am waiting for an operation on my neck, my arms and one leg are affected, have had previous ops for disk problems, have sciatica and arthritis in lower back..
Also have a severe history of mental health problems which needed hospital treatment, cpn input, crisis care etc..
I took all medication and hospital letters, and explained I am waitng for an mri to assess damage to lower back as spine is wearing..
The doctor wasn't interested in anything I said, he didn't question my mental health as such just asked how long i'd taken the anti-depressants, i tried to explain my history but he wasn't bothered, didn't ask anything about my stillbirth which is a reason for my depression [among others]..
He tested my reflexes in my arms and legs, my right arm is knackered and it was quite obvious, he knew i was in agony...
He tried to move my legs but did it the wrong way to how it should be done, at the hospital they lay me on my side to test my slr rate..
He said that my relexes are gone in my foot and ankle, and asked me to put my arm behind my back and i couldn't do it..
He asked me a question which threw me, he asked about my driving, I can hardly drive now and only drive within 5 mins of my house due to neck mobility and morphine, he asked me 'when did i last walk to school and the doctors' I didn't get it..
I told him that I get breathless and get headaches, he didn't ask anymore about this..[this is due to compression of blood flow to the head]
I wasn't asked about my writing issues either..
I'm so worried about the outcome, I don't have the energy for a tribunal, and I can't afford to lose out on the difference between ESA and income support..
Is it as bad as I think it's going to be ??? What do I do ??

Don't worry about it hun, just await the decision and if needs be then you fight on! I too am in a bit of a no-mans land with the DWP as the ATOS report says I can mobilise 50m, my HRM says I cannot. Lose my HRM and it's bye bye to the only lifeline I have to the outside world.

Currently appealing my ATOS report and the decision to leave me in the WRAG due to the fact that I mistakenly put down my best day scenario when I should have put worst and none of the additional information I added has been taken into account either.
Don't worry, just await that brown envelope. Who knows, you may have been moved to the support group.
If not, fight another day. 0 -

hi how are you doing ?? glad you posted have been thinking about you..Just realised you are from Leeds I used to live there...
Have you had any scans or been given any further info from hospital ??
I won't be put in the support group more like kicked off totally..
I'll fight though, after all Jeremy Kyle is only on for a hour a day have to fill my time somehow..:DI always take the moral high ground, it's lovely up here...0 -
Yeah I have chest scans (xrays) bi-monthly and nothing showing so it's all good. And good on you for living in Leeds for a while, it's not the best but it's far from the worst.

Back to the matter in hand, if you've told them what you're saying here then I wouldn't worry. I was a little too honest and got put into the WRAG which I must fight at some point.

Request a copy of the medical report.
Out of interest, re the recording of the medical, did you request this in advance in writing, if so how far in advance, and did they tell you in advance they could not sort out the equipment, or did they agree to record then say they could not on the day?
In the mean time, expect to fail, and read up on appealing, at least if you pass, you will get a nice suprise, if you do fail, you will be prepared.
When the medical report arrives, you will be much better placed to know what is happening. Make sure you are sitting down when you read it.[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.
[/greenhighlight][redtitle]
The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that[/redtitle](house of lords debate, talking about Cameron)0 -

Was told twice it was available then told the day before it wasn't, by then had booked the kids the day off school as center is miles from where I live, and i know that if it's changed they can say you didn't attend..can't have money stopped right now..I always take the moral high ground, it's lovely up here...0 -

I'm coping the best I can i'm glad your life is so dammned easy and perfect..
I doubt their life is perfect, someone with a perfect life would not feel the need to troll on benefit and disablity forums trying to kick people when they are down would they...[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

Ignore snide comments like that, none of us know what's round the corner. I bet there's a load of single parents who are in a situation that they didn't plan to be in.
As for ATOS. Don't worry too much. You might just be surprised. If they knock you off then you can appeal, cross that bridge when you come to it.

thank you too, i appreciate it..I always take the moral high ground, it's lovely up here...0 -
No worries hon. Just try not to beat yourself up about stuff. Even if you're in the WRAG group, the chances are you will still have an underlying entitlement to income based if you don't get in the support group. Chin up and try and cross bridges when you come to them. I know it's easier said than done when there are mh problems. But it's worrying about snow that might never fall xx4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0
