Statutory Redundancy Pay and Notice Period

Hi, I was made redundant on 29 Feb with no advance notice. I had to claim statutory redundancy pay from the govt. Today I have received an email from 'The Insolvency Service', stating I will only get 6 weeks wages as payment. I worked for my ex employer for 6 years so that's fine. But how about my one month notice pay? I was expecting 6 weeks + 1 month (notice period) payment from the govt. Please can someone tell me if I'll receive the one month wage from somewhere else ot have they missed it?
Many thanks. x

You got it wrong, you get 6 weeks redundancy yes, but you also get pay in lieu of notice which is 1 week for every year worked so thats another 6 weeks pay. Redundancy is not taxed, notice pay is and JSA taken from it or wages from a new employer if your working. Also unpaid wages, holiday pay.0 -
Thanks falko89.
Sorry, I'm still confused. I thought because the company didn't give me any day's notice (I was told not to go back to work the next day), and by contract it should be one month. Does that mean apart from 6 weeks' pay that's confirmed, I'll get another six weeks from somewhere else (who will be paying that)? My ex employer has gone liquidation so there is no chance there are paying it.

My employer went insolvent, The redundancy payment service pays everything. Yes U get another 6 weeks. Tomorrow phone citizens advice just to be sure.0

Minimum you will get will be 6 weeks pay in lieu of notice plus redundancy.0

Thanks. So am I expecting a seperate letter/ email for the insolvency dept for the notice period pay? It got me confused as I though they would do it at once at the same time.0

The way mine worked was, the insolvency people gave me the forms, I filled them in and returned it to them, they passed it on to the redundancy payment service which is a government department, this department was set up to cover payments when a company is made insolvent so the redundancy payment service will be paying all of mine. Just check with CAB but I am pretty sure yours will be the same.0 -
I came across this which may help.
What you can claim
You can claim for all your outstanding pay from the insolvency practitioner. There is no guarantee that the full amount you are owed will be paid as this depends on whether enough funds are raised from the sale of your employer's assets.
Some debts, including holiday pay and wages, will be 'preferential debt' when your employer's assets are shared out. This means they must be paid before certain other debts.
As full payment cannot be guaranteed, there are special arrangements for employees to claim the basic minimum of debts owed to them from the National Insurance Fund. These claims are:
redundancy
wages - up to a maximum of eight weeks
holiday pay - up to a maximum of six weeks
compensatory notice pay - one week after one calendar month's service rising to one week per year of service up to a maximum of 12 weeks (new earnings will be taken into account)
There is a limit of £430 a week on the amount you can claim for weekly pay.0 -
Yes, they'll send you a RP2 form at the end of your statutory notice period. As falko has correctly stated this is 6 weeks.
This makes sense because they will need to deduct the amount of money you have received from new work and/or in benefits from your payment.0 -
I have received the 6 weeks' redundancy payment today. So do I just wait for the RP2 form to arrive by post now? Will have have to do anything to get it? I have not been working since 1 March, and it's now over six weeks for the period period payment.
