playstation not reading discs

could not find anywhere else to ask about this, playstation 2 will not read the discs, someone said it needs callibrating and someone else said the lens needs cleaning, I am not sure but it may have been dropped, is this something I could do myself? The casing does not have fixings that I am familiar with.

try a lens cleaning cd. If you still get issues then i would say it is the laser, where you may as well get another 1

We had a similar problem and rang Sony, they came and picked it up and we bought a reconditioned one from them.........................and then that one was knocked off the side, so we've just bought a new old model :rolleyes::rolleyes:

We took the cover off ours and gave it a quick blow and whizzed the hoover round and it worked a treat
