Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 18th February. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in,put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) andjoin us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you goto bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning all
Kettles on, I'll make a cuppa as soon as it boils.
Hubby is still doing overtime, they are still short staffed & someone has given their notice in, so it can only get better lol.
I best make a start on his cooked breakfast, freezer surprise for tea tonight, but whatever it is it will be with bubble & squeak as I cooked extra potatoes & veg ready.
Have a good day everybody.
Hugs Hester

Good Morning H/H and all who follow ,Brrr its a damp and chilly one this morning.Looks like the rain's set for the day(if my joints are anything to go by anyway )They are better than the weather folk for forecasts

Still I suppose we need it in the south. It seems when ever we get a hosepipe ban, it tips down for the next month or so
Well after the school run I have some baking to do for my DGS,I have promised them some fairy cakes with icing on so I'll whip up a dozen this morning plus a few scones as they seem to fill that black void called their tummys
Poor Ben is feeling a bit low, he's been laid off his chip shop job as the owner has said there's less shifts avaiable, last in, first out, but he will keep his number on file .Bless him he was so chuffed to get it, and has only done a few weeks there, but he did say it didn't seem as busy as he thought it would be.
Still, he's got some exams coming up so maybe its not too bad a thing I do feel for him though, as he'd just got the feel of having a few quid in his pocket. But he will keep trying,he just will do anything to earn a few bob bless him.
I don't think Henry will have his cricket practice today somehow as the rain is supposed to be quite heavy so a few extra cakes may cheer him up as well.
No shopping at least for me thank goodness I have done my menus for the next 10 days and have enough in the cupboards to keep me going
<<Hugs>> to those who need them
Have a good, if a bit damp day everyone

Good Morning Hester, Jackie and all to follow.
Not so cold here today but think we will see a lot of rain too.
I am on a mission today to get all my ironing done, have been running around here and there last couple of days and everything is building up again.
OH has got Docs this morning, need to drop DD at train station. I am waiting in for windscreen man as got a massive chip in my screen monday. Need to pop into town to get money out to pay for DD's car. Once that is all done I will do the ironing.
Not sure what is for dinner tonight - not menu planned yet

Morning everyone
Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Damp, dark and overcast here but not actually raining, but looks like more to come. DH up and off to work early but not stupid early.
Work wasn't anywhere near as busy yesterday so we all got a bit of time to be able to catch up on emails etc. Dinner last night was pie, chips and beans for the menfolk and mushroom omelette and salad for me. Also remembered to get chicken out to defrost for tonight, made a loaf of HM bread and gave the kitchen a S&S - so although the rest of the house is a pit, the kitchen is marginally better! I have keys this morning as I am an opener, I'm doing Reception duties today then finish at 1.15pm - then need to tackle the house and all the jobs that need doing. Will put a load in the WM in a mo, that will then be ready to put in the TD later.
Took my car into the garage last night after work, and collected the car they loan me whilst mine is in the garage, should get mine back today and of course will be a couple of hundred quid lighter afterwards!
Have had 2 NSD but need some more veg, bananas, sandwich meat so will do that later, hoping I should get away with £5'ish. Actually just thought we're having a whole chicken tonight so won't buy sandwich meat will keep some of the chicken back and will use that for sandwiches.
Items on ebay still not attracting any attention, so feeling a bit despondant - had hoped it would all sell.
Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

Morning all!
Enjoying a fairly laid back week at home this week, waiting for OH to get paid so I can do a much needed food shop - and get petrol!
Need to rewash everything I had hung on the line yesterday as we had a storm! But might wait till the weekend.
Dinner will be chicken chow mein for OH and Fish with salad for me, unless his money clears, then he'll have steak instead.
Just today and tomorrow to get through and it will be my weekend!!Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500
Debt payments 2012 £433.270 -
question: is it necessary to rewash after rain? I just leave it out till it's dry (but I'm not known for my laundry skills, so this is a genuine question)MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025
