Hi all
We are having a civil ceremony in a hotel in July, and have been told we need around 6/7 songs for the service (me walking in, guests waiting, signing register and us leaving) so I was wondering what songs everyones having for what part? Have only picked my song for walking down at the moment (groovy kind of love instrumental version) and am really struggling!! So, name your tunes lol

Walking out to Let's go surfing now.
Signing register to the Beatles Will you still love me when I'm 64.
Guests arriving- love Shack, truly madly deeply, turn me on,
We need some more but that's it for now.
Oooo I'm walking in to Marry You by Elevate BerkleyForty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
I'm struggling with this too
The songs that mean things to us aren't weddingy, and most of the more traditional choices I really can't stand.
At least we have ayear to get sorted outWhen you're chewing on life's gristle, don't grumble, give a whistle.

I walked in to a beautiful version of the bridal march by Jonathan Cain (from Journey). We signed the register to a song my OH wrote and recorded for me, Bee Gees 'Wedding Day' and Ennio Morricone 'Chi Mai' and we walked (danced!) out to Jackie Wilson 'Higher & Higher'. Music playing before was a selection some fairly 'chilled' music, not oeverly love songs but heading in that direction - my OH is a DJ so he just pulled a load of stuff from his collection which did make things a bit easier for us!0

OK, I'm starting to worry now - I really can't see how we would fit 6/7 songs into our civil ceremony, am I missing something here?
We'll prob just have some background music while the guests are waiting but can't see this going on for too long - almost all our guests are staying at the venue, and knowing our guests most will be at the bar until 5 mins before the ceremony starts!
Then a song for me walking in, another for us leaving. That's just 2 songs. Last wedding I was at, they didn't have anything for signing the register, it only took 2 minutes lol, no time for a song! We weren't planning on having one for when we sign it, is this normally done??
Where do the other songs fit in? I'm sure I must be missing something!0 -
what about marry you bruno mars - i am guessing your ladies - so what about love songs like lady in red , beautiful etc

I think they want 2 or 3 waiting for the ceremony to start songs, a walking in song if you are doing the traditional walking down the aisle bit, a couple for signing the register as it can take more than a couple of minutes if it is photographed, and then a leaving song.
but it varies from couple to couple, and you know what your guests are like better than the registrarWhen you're chewing on life's gristle, don't grumble, give a whistle.

The Marry You I'm having by Elevate Berkley is a version of Bruno's song but with a beat box in it. Yes I know the song is about getting married on a whim and that you can leave each other if you wake up and decide you were too drunk to remember :rotfl:but I love the song and really don't care.
Brightside - our songs aren't wedding'y at all, we've picked songs that mean something to us, ie ones that were playing when we first met etc. I see it as it's our wedding and if we want to walk out to 'Lets go surfing now', then we will.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -

Lots of our music wasn't very "weddingy".
I had traditional welsh harp music to walk down the aisle to, but for signing the register OH picked some nice stuff by Air, Ocean Colour Scene, Manu Chau etc.
Then for walking back up the aisle, we had a classical remix of N-Trance Set U Free! :rotfl:
Pick stuff that means something to you.
The traditional options are lovely, eg air on a G string, but they are less personal. Now whenever I hear any of our songs again I really smile.0
