Car tyres question.

Why?A bit expensive as well.Even if there were four 80 rated tyres on, at 450kg each, that's 1800kg.The car only has a GVW of less then 1500kg, so they're still within rating.I'd do the same as the op, unless I was going to be running with a heavy load in the back and the seats down all the time.
The maker specifies 84 rated tyres, its on the B pillar sticker, i'd be very reluctant to go below the makers specs.
Each to their own, i once had a write off accident recovered to my house, the very first thing the insurance assessor did was to closely examine all the tyres closely.
Camskills currently showing 84V/W rated Yokohama Sdrive and Vredestein Sportracs at £58 and £60.64 respectively.0 -

We put it on Vredestein Sportrac 3's because the noise from the OE Michelins was awful and they torque steered badly, no regrets with the Vredesteins.
Try Camskills Mytyres and Tyremen, i have bought from all three over the years without any problem.0 -
And don't forget that the weight rating is the maximum continuous load at the tyre's maximum continuous speed.
And I suspect that tyres are made to actually be able to handle a bit more.
However, if the car manufacturer quotes a particular rating, there is probably a reason for this, and I wouldn't go below it. If there was a higher rated tyre for the same or a lower price, though ...The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
Thanks for all replies.
Think I'm going to go for two Vredestein 84V tyres for the front & put the front tyres that are already on the car on the back.
Will eventually get two new ones on the back as well.
** Checked rating on my car & it's showing as 195/45 r16 80v.0 -

Is that whats on the B pillar label, if so 80's are fine?
Ours is the 1.6 HDi so could be a lower load index needed for the petrol model.0 -

Michelins on car, poor grip, torque steer.
Vredestiens fitted, good grip, no torque steer since.
No loss of grip no torque steer.
I can't help it if it doesn't go with the theory, in practice this is the case.0 -
