A very Happy Birthday to your lovely Son. What a fighter! My brother has downs syndrome too. He's had such a tough year. Hes 45 now. Last year I took him to local A and E has a cough, and he had severe pnuemonia and was put on life support and was in intensive care for 4 weeks, and had to have a trachiostomy. His Mum has recently had to be admitted into residential care with severe alzheimers, so us siblings look after him now. He leads a full and happy life and is very popular!

Thanks for all your kind words and good wishes. My son owes his life to the brilliant staff at Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool and we will be forever in their debt. He sees so many specialists in two hospitals, as well as various clinics, but is so lucky that we have the NHS and their wonderful staff.

Sheila, I hope your brother made a full recovery. My son had pneumonia at six weeks and was in Intensive Care - his blood sats had dropped to 42% :eek:. He had pneumonia again when he was about six, but when the doctor rang me to give me his test results, he was playing ont he beach with his grandparents :rotfl:. We were able to treat him at home that time.
