Do Thames Water Check Properties?

If I say the property is unoccupied (which it is) and unfurnished (which it will be) - are there any documented instances of Thames Water actually sending someone to the property to try and peak to check if it is 100% unfurnished?

Thanks

If the property is on a meter that meter will still be read and any notes made by the meter reader will go through the account.

IE : meter reader states someone is living there and there is consumption = a bill

Also the council give 100% unfurnished the water companies don't,...They say that the supply is either needed or not and if not then it goes onto a disconnection list.

Thanks Gothic Fairy for the reply.

Sadly Thames Water will only give me a closed account if the property is 100% unfurnished. I have no meter. I was told on the phone, even if there is a table in there, I will not be allowed to claim a vacant unfurnished property and have the account closed:

Here it says they can check (would they actually attempt to check the property is empty?

I am not on a meter, so I am just wondering if they will actually send anyone to check it is 100% unfurnished at any point.

The Council is just as disgusting. If my property is vacant but furnished, I am only entitled to a 10% discount!

They might well send someone if there is someone in that area.

What you will find is that at a set point in time TW will have someone check that the property is empty. They would usually use who ever they have taking meter reads.
This however is usualy after 3/6/9/12 months (it all depends on their current working policy)

I am sure that you will be glad to have moved out tomorrow;)

Knock on the door, look through windows, check the bins, speak to neighbours but like I said this would be in the future and not within days/weeks.

it can happen within days and if found out that the property is furnished then acc will be back dated to when property was last occupied council will be informed and then you would need to prove for any unfurnished time
