Is there any chance of getting a lost contract phone replaced with Virgin Mobile?
Hi,
I stupidly left my Blackberry Curve in a taxi in Barcelona at the weekend. I am 19 months into a 24 month contract with Virgin Media. They have sent me a new sim card and I do have an old nokia phone I can use for the next few months. I was just wondering if it is worth persevering with ringing them to see if they will put me on another contract instead of my current one (ie write-off the next few months in exchange for me signing up to a new deal). I have phoned them once to ask when my current contract expires and the person I spoke to said that I just had to wait until then, but if anyone has any experience of negotiating for a new deal before current contract ends I would be grateful for any advice. Thanks x
ps by the way, my husband and 2 children also have contracts with virgin mobile and we are also virgin media customers, if that makes any difference??

No chance the phone loss is covered by travel insurance? There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

I have checked my insurance, and the small print says that mobile phones and accessories are not covered. The insurance is with Virgin Money, and even if they were covered, the maximum for one item is £150, with a £100 excess! Plus, I did not report to the police within 24 hrs, so it's a 'no' all round I think! No chance the phone loss is covered by travel insurance?0 -

Upgrades prior to the minimum terms are always poor value, they know they can offer ho hum deals as you can't really go anywhere without paying termination fee's
You can ask for an upgrade but with 5 months to go thats pushing it, 3 months is usually when they'll consider it but they will add it on to the end of you contract so it will be a 21 month instead of 18 or 27 instead of 24 months deal.0 -
Just had a call with Virgin mobile yesterday with regards to one of my contracts. Unlike you my phone had broke, with 6 months left to run, so I called them up to see what I could do. Haven't used that number for ages so was going to pay the 6 months to get out of it. Instead of me doing that, they sent me one of their cheap nokia handsets (£20) just so I could use the minutes and texts up instead of losing them all.
Think Virgin only upgrade a month before the expiry of contract.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0
