Charged for receiving junk text
I am on pay as you go and have been receiving junk text every few days. Each time I receive the text, I get charged £1.50. I never subscribed to anything like that. I called my network to block the text but they say they can't do it, they just gave me the helpline of the company sending me the text, I can't get hold of them. Can anyone help please as this is costing me a fortune.
Waddle you do eh?

Try replying to the text with the word "stop" and that will normally do it within a day or so. If that fails you could request a change of mobile number.

I don't know where these companies get off, why should someone have to tell a shoddy outfit to stop harassing them, god damn authorities and phone companies should shut these companies down that spam people with authorization.
No longer a user, goodbye folks. PLEASE delete my account. Thank you0 -
Thanks Kaaloo for Grumbletext. Unfortunately I am on Virgin and the stop service doesn't work with them. I can't text stop to the number, can't call the company (only a voicemail message there). What choice do I have, except being forced to get a new number? I took the sim out as I don't fancy receiving another one of those texts.Waddle you do eh?0

Taking the sim out won't solve the problem .... the texts will just sit on the sim until you put it back in the phone. If you have tried everything, you will just have to change your number.I'm a retired employment solicitor. wot happens if u hav contract?
do u hav to pay to change ur number?
i hav had my number for years and would hate to think i would hav to change it just cos of junk texts
how can this be legal?0 -
Sorry, for the delayed reply - have been away.
If you can't stop the junk texts, and your mobile provider can't help you, then the only thing I can think of is for you to change your sim/number.
Also, try to avoid signing up for polyphonic ring-tones and replying to junk texts, coz they seem to be the worst offenders.
