What's your highest ever unintentional cell phone bill?
Phoned up O2 this morning just to do my usual check on remaining mins and texts, found 0 mins left and a cash balance of £26.01 from regular mobile/landline calls made over 24 hours. Absolutely shocked, as I have two contracts with two different providers and am usually very diligant about checking remaining mins/texts, usually every day. But of course O2 don't have such a facility, you have to phone the operator so maybe I just slipped by a couple of days. Ah well, billing period ends on 04 March, then I can start using that phone again.
So what's your highest ever unintentional cell phone bill? By unintentional, it's charges you knowingly but unknowingly wrapped up, if that makes any sense, not charges you incurred because you didn't know about them.

£378 exc. VAT!!!!!!
My uncle used the 0871 numbers accidently as they are charged by O2 instead of the 0844 which are free!! Bill is YET TO ARRIVE!!!0 -
Sheesh! I bet that's a lesson that won't be forgotten soon.
For me it was just too much talking on the phone, and not realising how much time had passed. Although I'm still shocked about how I could have ran up such a bill.
Oh well, something to look out for in the future huh?

Over £400 (due to Orange mistake).
The dispute went on for over two years and involved three different debt collectors! Anyway, I found the best way to deal with debt collectors is NEVER ring them up, never give them a contact number and never 'confirm' your date of birth! Only write to debt collectors and say that the debt is disputed. They then refer the matter back to Orange!
The dispute was finally resolved when I found about the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Scheme. No-one at Orange told me about this! I contacted the Orange Executive Office and they decided Orange owed me money! They also gave me money to get copies of my credit files from Experian and Equifax.0 -
Well about 65 quid, but that was an o2 line for my brother in law, but in my name. Luckly I had a £40 max limit. So outgoing calls got barred.
Silly guy thought last Christmas day (Monday) was considered off peak so made loads of calls to 0844.
If you have an o2 line you can set a minimum and maximum limit. So calls are barred after the billing system sees your current account.
Be aware the o2 system is delayed by at least 2 days so you can go over (as in my case).
When you call o2 to set this up they will state its not a full proof service and is intended to prevent someone misusing your account if the phone is stolen. But the 2 day delay means they can rack up a huge bill if this did happen anyway.ummm...0 -
Thanks. I didn't know that and am going to set mine to £5 irst thing tomorrow.Know me for who I am, not for who I say I am.0

£390 phone charges
£158 text charges
All in 2004 - took phone abroad and thought that the onclusive calls/text would cover international calls!!!!!!
You live & you learn
You seem more shocked at your £26 though:)0 -
181 pounds once
and currently 161 which is being disputed with O20 -
Back when orange had free 0800 calls, I could dial via an 0800 number to get calls to Europe for about 5p a min. My housemate's gf was living in Italy at the time, so I'd let him use my phone to call her. Anyways one time he messed up and just dialled the number, so instead of costing me 5p/min it was more like £1.50/min for a 45 min call! He of course paid me back for the call, but it was still a shock when the direct debit came out of my bank account.0
