ESA are getting a bit rediculous with their scenarios.

Clients are to blame sometimes too.

Its usually the clients, rarely the MSC if I'm fair. But I blame the MSC fraternity as a whole. If one says no to a crazy scenario, think the seaside machine brief a while back, someone else would have said yes and the MSC who said no would loose a client.

Until the industry as a whole realises that actually this type of brief gets duff info and clients learn it from them it'll keep going.
This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.

Ach, I'm getting myself in a tangle!

I'm doing the training for timings at fast food restaurants and it's melting my brain.
I'm supposed to time it from the time I start waiting, then from them taking my order to me receiving my order. 3 timing points.

But when I do a practise run through with my timer, I only have 2 'times'..... I can't figure it out!

On my timer, I have the time between waiting and ordering. Then I have the time between ordering and receiving. Two segments of time, not 3....

I'm probably being really thick but I totally don't understand!

It is two timing, you first note the time when you join the queue, then start timing, once after the total and then after you get the food.

My phone although very old, not smart phone but it does Split Lap Timer, so all I do is press the lap button for each step, then I write them later when is done.

    You have three times:
    1- join the queue
    2- tell your order
    3- receive food

The time BETWEEN each event is a total of two. But you should physically be clicking the stopwatch at three different times e.g.

    1 - join the queue at 12
    2 - tell your order at 12.02
    3 - receive food at 12.05

Brilliant thanks, I knew it would be something obvious! I have iPhone, so can 'lap' but not sure if I should invest in a proper timer.... I guess trial an error, will figure this out eventually :)

hi all i'm new to this forum so bare with me :)
I just signed up to some MS websites grassroots, gapbuster and gfk just wondering how long it will take for jobs to start becomming avaliable to me?

Of the ones you've mentioned, probably a couple of weeks. Although, when it comes to GR I think i'm going to leave as I've been signed up with them for a while now and nothing. Come to think of it, there might be more that I need to leave as there has been nothing in my area for the 3months since joining *cough cough* TNS!

You're welcome :) If you're doing fast food, I think your phone is more than sufficient. Just press the 'lap' button at each point so you have all the timing points as well as the total time it took to complete the job

a phone is far less obvious than a stopwatch too, you may as well wear a neon flashing banner if you bring one of those to teh queue...

If you are really lucky, after a few months you might get sent a special Gyptimer.

Then you can throw it in the bin and carry on using your phone !
