sorry that happened, but from what youve said if its happened more than once, perhaps a lesson to you and us to be more aware of personal security of valuables, esp if carrying bags of gold
I think id be the once bitten twice shy kind of person though.
it always makes me laugh at the irony that pickpockets or "dippers" on underground stations of purses and wallets apparently pick their targets from watching people reading the "warning pickpockets operate in this area" signs who then pat their pockets or check their bags to check they still have their wallet or purse thus revealing the location to the theives to go and take later on
When did i say this has happened me more than once? This is the first time I have ever been pick pocketed in my life. I live in central London, i'm extremely careful.0 -
Sorry that it happened to you. I would suggest you write to ESA offering to pay the money before they do, and hopefully it will work in your favour.
I am always paranoid carrying the gold; I hug my bag until I get home.
I've asked them what they want me to do. The payment for the pawn jobs i've done with the gold is worth more than the gold so i don't mind just writing them off..0 -
Logically, targeting someone coming OUT of a pawnbroker is not a universally successful ploy - as if you were a real customer going to pledge, you would not have any gold on the way out....
'm assuming your 'bag of gold' was simply a single gold item...?0 -
MF and PIP have paid today :-)0

No, but they would have the money they sold the gold for wouldn't they????
I'm assuming these places don't pay with a cheque ?I get what i want. That isn't because i'm a brat or spoilt. It's because i'm determined, i work hard for it and i achieve my goals!0 -

That's actually pretty clever and logical. Obviously I'm not advocating it in any way, but it does make a lot of sense, yet I'd never have thought of it that way. I'm constantly checking that I still have everything with me, without thinking that could end up working against me.
I remember queuing for a gig once and a couple in the queue started a big panic that they had lost their tickets, so of course it makes everyone else want to check they still have theirs.
Don't know if it was genuine, or if not don't know if the plan worked, but I heard later on that it's a really common ploy they use, in much the same logic as the pickpockets watching people read the warning signs, as the people actually holding the tickets, which is often just 1 person in a group, check so they know who to target and where to find them.
Hope you get it sorted ok with ESA J0annepsi - I doubt they would sack you so long as they're not out of pocket for the gold. Sure it'll be fineHalf of November Make £10 a Day Challenge: £51/ £1700 -

Many people go in to get their item valued and don't actually pawn it. Crooks watch from outside - easily done as these shops usually keep the front door open all the time - and thus know who to target :-(0 -
