Breakdown down cover

Perfectly fine if you have a few hundred quid kicking around in case you have a breakdown, kind of negated the need for a breakdown policy if you have such funds kicking around, no?
How much would it cost in cash for a 200 mile recovery / relay, quite a sum to have 'just in case'
IMO for the majority of people a policy that covers it all without the need to pay upfront is a much better option, yes they may be a few quid more expensive, but its a lot less hassle.
You don't need to have "a few hundred quid kicking around" You pay by credit card, put in your claim and within 28 days (but in practice 7-10) you have your claim in the bank ready to pay the credit card account.
I guess over the last 6 years I have saved about £500+ by going with Autoaid rather than AA/RAC.
Of course if using a credit card and filling in a form is too challenging for someone then they are better to spend the £5000
