Someone Leaving SKULLS and BONES in my garden, stalking me -LL won't let me leave

I have had nothing but trouble in the 5 days I have been in my house

see tmy other thread I only have one and I can't post a link sorry

This morning on top of all that crap, we realised that the low water pressure was due to the toilet leaking water down the walls, we didn't notice it on the painted walls until we moved a(expensive) pine dresser in the room, came down the next morning and it was ruined.

Now here's the F****ng kicker.

Yesterday I got out of the car and found someone had left a sheeps skull EXACTLY where I park my car, and get out the passenger side door, so they obvioulsy wanted me to notice it.

I thought it was a sick joke at first, because we're goths.

Then this morning, when I opened the front door to walk the dog, there's a deer antler propped against my wall straight in front of me, so now I'm starting to get weirded out.

I go into the garden to hang some fat balls for the birds on the tree in the garden, and there's about 30 nails driven into the trunck of the tree (I don't know when this happened but it wasn't like this on the day I moved in, so its happened since)

So onto the leak today =, Basically, waiting for the plumber, we asked if he knew anyone who might leave skulls around, he said the next door neigbours nutjob ex who hangs around a lot.= (nice)
We've been in Almost all day, we finally get to leave to my mums (10 mins up road) we're gone and back in 1 to 1.5 hours.

When we get back someone has smashed plastic and glass all over the drive and sprinkled it where we park (we're the only ones with a car) - and they've also gone through our recycling and pulled out all the old paperwork and letters in there (thankfully previous tenants and not ours) and strewn them all around in the shed.

Spoke to the other tenants to see if anyone had seen anyone and one said they had seen the nutjob ex

Whether its him or not, there's someone messing with us.

We had convinced ourself the house was haunted because we always felt uncomfortable like someone was watching us and now we know its because someone was!

We've called the police and they're coming to take a statement.

We rang the landlord and told them we want to end the tenancy, we're not staying and we don't feel safe, we even said we've been in the house 5 days, you can have the months rent (£400) and we'll be gone this week.

The landlord refuses to end the tenancy, saying there's no grounds for her to end the tenancy???

!!!!!!!!!

Either the psycho nutjob ex of a neighbour, who's apparantly always hanging around, or someone else is purposely trying to mess with us and leaving SKULLS and BONES in our garden and trying to slash our tyres!

Do we have any grounds to end the tenancy, if the landlord refuses to do so?

We're stopping with family tonight and we're not going back.

I'm afraid legally your contract with the landlord, and your problems with the neighbours, are totally un-related.

You cannot end the tenancy on these grounds.

You can only hope to negotiate an Early Surrender if the LL agrees.

The water problem is a normal repairing issue, and he seems to be dealing with this - plumber came round.

The neighbour/stalker is a police matter - nothing to do with the LL.

Sorry it is not what you want to hear.

I have no problems with the neighbours, in fact I hadn't met any until today when I went round to ask if anyone knew what was happening.

The woman next door who's ex it is... hasn't even been in her house once for the 5 days that we've been here, the landlord says she's "staying with family" wonder why!

phone the police. we've recently had a similar issue albeit much milder but our local bobbies were very helpful and sympathetic. Funnily enough, after a couple of very visible police visits our invisible friend disappeared
    Here today, hospital tomorrow :(

you could also ask your LL to give you permission to buy a dog. it might make you feel more secure and a large breed would put your invisible friend off entering your property.

  • As G_M says it doesn't effect your contract with LL.

Make sure all doors and windows are secure - especially taking care that keys are not within reach or sight of the letter box. If the police don't arrive tomorrow, call them again. If you hear or see anything or feel someone is watching you again - call 999.

I'd second investing in CCTV or even, for the time being, a webcam from an upstairs window. Which can either record or stream.

Whilst it is probably someone having a joke (maybe neighbor as it happened when you were out) it's best to be safe than sorry. I'm speaking from the experience of having a, thankfully harmless, stalker.

Look, Turisas, if you want help to get out of the tenancy agreement, you really would do well to answer the questions other experienced posters put to you - on the other thread.

For example, were you given an EPC?

You can't get out of the tenancy because you don't like the place, but you may be able to wriggle out on a technicality.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

    Have you rung the police?

If its bothering you (and I suggest that by posting here it is) then you should first ring the police.

Do the 101 number and you should list all the issues - if you can't get through to speak to someone today then make an appointment.

Rang the police yesterday, as soon as we got home and saw the glass, they're coming tomorrow
Landlord won't let us have CCTV says there's "no need"
Am trying to get them to allow us a security light

I also have pictures of the skull, antler and broken glass for the police in case they mysteriously get cleaned up before they come
