Transferring number from contract to contact on same network?

Hey i need a bit of help, I've got a contract at the moment with Orange that has just ended, my daughter also has a contract with Orange that i pay for but it has 12 months left, anyway because of bad behaviour she's lost the use of her mobile and i want to take the contract on instead of signing up for another one but i want to keep my old number.
Is it right that i need to transfer my current contracted number to a payg sim then back to my daughters contract and how long should this take?
Thanks for any help!

Yes - allow 4-5 days per number port. You might want to check also for restrictions on the pay and go network you transfer to - they don't like it when people use them for swapping numbers (bit sniffy when you talk to some of the customer services people). Keep the number on pay and go for a few days at least.0 -
I think you can do this within Orange, just switch the finished contract to PAYG first: can I keep my number and tariff on PAYG when I get a new phone and new SIM card?0

Just tell Customer Services you want to convert the contract to PAYG, and they'll do the migration. Do remember, the 30 days notice period will still apply.0
