New Washing Machine Recommendation

Hi All

Can anyone recommend a good washing machine? I would like a large load (min 7.5kg) if posisble. Not worried about a washer dryer or anything like that. I looked at Miele but nearly fell off my chair when I saw the price!

Does anyone know what machine Which recommends?

Thanks in advance.

    Err - Miele! ;)

To be honest if you can afford then Miele are the machines to go for - no question.

A bit more information from you would be good. What budget do you have, how many washes do you do a week, how many in the household? All that sort of stuff.

    Thanks

We have had an Lg direct drive machine for 4 years, been a fantastic machine, as it's direct drive (no belt) its super quiet compared to most machines, put it this way it's 2 doors from the bedroom and we can get to sleep with it running, think ours has a 7kg drum, 1200 spin, clothes come out dryer than our old machine and that was a 1400 spin too.
  • Thanks for replies- I have an LG Direct Drive at the moment but the pump keeps going. I bought it refurbished from Ebay for £150 12 months ago and have already had it fixed once (£175).

There are two of us in the house but we are a bit lazy and only do washing on the weekend so huge loads!

I guess budget is around £400 but would consider more (not the £900 that Miele want though!).
  • Miele. No two ways about it. They are offering a 10 year warranty on some of their machines at the moment.

I've had a Bosch mid-range machine for ten years now and it's only gone wrong once, with a minor fault fixed under the warranty.

I'd have no hesitation in recommending the brand.

I use the machine a max of three times a week - twice a week on average.

I have one of these, got it when there was a 6 year parts and labour warranty

From here at £439 with 5 years parts and labour warranty

Note the £8 disposal of old appliance box is ticked by default

Miele and Siemens may have longer warranties but at a price

Miele is the best and I'd say Bosch is probably next best. Having said that, I got a Zanussi 13 years ago when I bought my place and it's still working absolutely fine but there's only me (and the cats) so it's not particularly overworked :p
