Just been scammed on Ebay.

To cut this short...12pm today bought £500 of Amazon vouchers off ebay for £250 (ok alarm bells are ringing), sent a voucher code that doesn't exist, went to paypal resolution centre but it got closed as their resolution policy doesn't include vouchers, guy's ebay account now no longer exists (it was only opened this morning!), ebay don't care, paypal don't care, I have lost £250.00.

Any suggestions offered?.

I have contacted the police and my credit card company already.

Maybe but it could take me ages to recover.

Gonna look awful as I have a totally separate incident with a chargeback from 2 weeks ago.

They are going to think that it is me that is trying to scam.

I thought eBay had changed their policy to cover vouchers from 1st April but could be wrong.

eBay did recently change their policy, however if the voucher was sold as an e-voucher they will still deem it intangible and therefore not under buyer protection.

Op, when you say that eBay don't care.....have you tried to open a case or just speak via livechat?

AFAIK PayPal have not yet updated their T&C to include vouchers.

I have opened cases with eBay and Paypal. I have phoned both companies but it is the same answer "unfortunately....because it's an e-voucher etc etc"

The Paypal case got closed down straight away.

The guy knew exactly what he was doing.

The paypal case would have closed immediately if you'd opened an ebay case, that one would then usually be closed as you can only open in one.

Ebay should put up some bold information that they don't cover vouchers. Maybe even a pop up when you log in.
It's really unfortuate that you did not know that vouchers were not covered. Very sorry that you've been caught out.
However, I would say that if a deal is too good to be true - it usually is.
