Nothing wrong with reading the daily mail. Citing it as scientific evidence, especially as it is THE home of the health scare, is however a problem.

I bought a house next to one.

It doesn't hum and you don't really notice it. Only thing is that if I want to paint the side of my house next to it, I need to contact the company that owns it for them to send a person round to watch me the whole time we are in there.

Can't actually see any scaremongering posts on this thread tbh. I would say that the comment above indicates that you believe there may be a possible health issue with wifi, mobiles etc ? You can turn these items off, you can turn the whole house off if you wish. But with an installation on your doorstep, you will be subject to EMF 24 - 7 wheather you like it or not. If there is a health hazard to that then so be it. The original question was would you live next to one, I and millions of others would not.
  • How often do you switch your fridge or microwave off? what about all the millions of electricity cables that run under the pavements outside your home? do they not bother you?
  • I can only speak for myself, and what I am saying is I would not risk my home and, incidently largest life investment, to what may be going on. When the vast majority of homes are not built next to one, why would I ?? To back my thoughts, why do you think there is a noticeable price difference and slower sale speed when one is present ?
  • I have lived next to a sub station for 10 years. It is quiet - you don't hear anything. I have had two perfectly healthy children whilst living here and I don't know of any of the previous families to live in this house being ill. Also most of the neighbours have lived here a lot longer than us and are healthy. I think if you are unfortunate to get cancer then you will get it no matter what. Hope this helps.

I would suggest that he's really saying that the scaremongers are very likely to be inconsistent, ignorant and hypocritical. Unless, of course, they live in foil-lined caves with no electrical supply.

High voltage cables run a few feet under streets and footpaths. You're much closer to them than you imagine. The only difference between these and overhead cables or substations is that you can't see the buried cables, so you don't worry about them. You are, though, much much closer to them than you think.

Do you have a link to the data about the 'millions of others' please?
