Gordon, apologies if i quoted the wrong thread but i hope the people concerned get my drift. I wasn't just meaning parking tickets but also other fixed penalty notices. Not sure if its on here or cag but there was one about driving in a bus lane and the consensus was it was ok to fight it on a technicality.

It's OK to fight anything on a technicality. I would. Whether you win or not is a completely different story.

I believe in consumers getting justice not getting one over on the banks due to a technicality, avoiding their debts and putting the cost onto the rest of us. I said that I agreed the banks were wrong and that all charges and interest should be voided but the capital amount, the amount they actually spent which cannot really be disputed, should be repaid. Justice not oneupmanship.
Do you even know what you are talking about?

The banks get one over everyone! including our government! They get away with paying low taxes because they have 'complex international affairs' and getting money from the government because they 'need to recapitalize' and are 'too big to fail'. The money poured into the banks should have been used to help the consumer. The banks caused the mess we are all in, whilst the bankers and shareholders (who are one and the same as most bankers are also shareholders) lined their pockets at our expense.

A year after being bailed out they were back to paying billions in bonuses! While we are all still struggling with unemployment, benefit cuts, austerity, high cost of living and reduced income as individuals as well as many business going bust. This has in turn led to an increase in debt that cannot be repaid.

Do your homework, read up on it then come back!

CAG have taken a victory by a solicitor affiliated to All About Debt and made it look like their victory. Still a victory for the consumer but would be nice to give credit where credit is due.

I notice no one has commented on my post about parking tickets etc

I didn't think it was necessary as I'd earlier written
if I was actually travelling at 50 then I wouldn't try to find a loophole that allowed me to get away with it.
about speeding. If I received a ticket for parking illegally or jumping a red light I would pay it. On a recent occasion where my wife parked legally and received a ticket I appealed on her behalf and the council decided not to proceed with the fine. I don't consider I am one of the "bunch of two-faced people".

"CAG have ...made it look like their victory", "thanks to niddy and AAD she won", "A solicitor that happens to contribute to Niddy's site", "the defendant was supported by Niddy and his team and the case was won by a solicitor who regularly gives up his time for free to contribute to all about debt"...

    Enough already.

it is a useful victory for the consumer

if you're not interested in that because it doesn't apply to you fair enough
I notice you were interested fast enough in challenging an illegal parking ticket
obviously a bit of me me me going on there
    More than Two Years in

Pete you may of course express your opinion but my opinion is that you are in a tiny minority. You said your wife parked legally...is there evidence? Maybe it was because there wasn't a sign up as is the case in an area near me...well to be honest that is a technicality.
You really do need to understand that it doesnt matter if we agree or not, the law is the law and until it is changed people have a perfect right to challenge anything that is wrong.
A few years ago some guy made a fortune from Tesco by buying all their banana's because they had made a mistake on the club card offer , is it wrong that he exploited that opportunity..I think the vast majority are just annoyed that they didn't notice it.

The judge declared that the defendant didn't have to pay. Tough ti**ies for the banks in my eyes.

i think they ruled it was unenforceable it court. different than saying you dont have to pay.

what you choose to do with the knowledge that its unenforceable is then your call

pay or not pay. just cant be enforced in the courts is all.
