  • Why does it have to be Whiteley rather than somewhere else nearby? Obviously prices are not going to be a lot different. The only advantage of Whiteley is motorway access but I suspect most people locally would feel it was a large soulless estate.

You should be able to find other locations in the same general area that do not have that kind of downside.

Rowner has been levelled, Alverstoke is nice but commands a false premium, Priddy's hard to me has the same suck factor as whitely.

It can be cheap though and providing you dont have to commute out then it is great, but the traffic in and out is diabolical, truly truly aweful

Titchfield Park and Titchfield village are nice, and Locks Heath and Sarisbury Green have excellent schools, not massively cheap but I have heard good things

    commonly known as !!!!!ley..
, Hampshire in general is a really nice part of the UK to live in. If your working in Southampton i would look to the forest side of the City , possibly as far west as Ringwood.if it was Portsmouth i would look at places to the north Petersfiled liss..

dont look at it just from a 10k differential, quality of life and prospects long term are important.

Titchfield is a bit inbred, and the carnival is a pain in the balls when you're not allowed to drive to your own house because the roads are closed.

Never felt easy in the coach and horses, didnt have enough fingers for a start

I agree, certain parts of Titchfield are inbred, the rest of the village is overpriced and as for the school... well don't get me started on that one.

Long-term prospects definitel important. I've been very 'scared' of moving down South nearer London for a long time due to perceived increase in cost of living - but is it really more expensive than around Edinburgh? Wages down there are typically £10k more and the engineers I know who earn most are those who've come up here having previously worked down South on bigger wages.
