Hi all,
I am getting married on Saturday 21st April (6 days time). I ordered my personalised cake topper from Tasha at Claytoppers in June 2011, paying in full then. I emailed over the final details of the topper in December 2011.
Her website says that the toppers should arrive 4 weeks before the event. I have had problems with communication from the start, but never believed that with 6 days to go I would be spending my time worrying about a cake topper!
She finally replied about a week and a half ago, and told me that the topper would arrive last Tuesday. Still no topper.
I call and it goes through to voicemail, I have left several. I have also emailed a lot, but no response.
Any ideas as to what I can do? I am seriously running out of time!

Sounds like you may need to go to another vendor, and demand a refund as she hasn't supplied the goods. I think it is pretty sensible to expect wedding-specific goods to be time-critical, she can hardly say 'oh, I didn't know you needed it by whateverdate' when that's the whole point of the product.
I guess she didn't give you any kind of tracking code, and if you are getting no responses, perhaps one last voicemail and email, backed up with a registered letter stating that if the goods are not delivered by (eek! Like 3 days time, or something) you will be forced to another supplier, and will be pursueing her through the courts if necessary not only for the orignal fee you paid, but also any extra costs you incur sourcing the replacements at short notice.
BUT! Do not let it spoil your day - people get strung on details, and something always goes wrong. Be glad it's this, not your hubbytobe getting appendicitis or something, and have a wonderful wedding!0 -
Thanks so much for your reply. Don't worry, I won't let it spoil the wedding! It's only a cake topper after all. But when I ordered it almost a year ago and paid £60 for it, it's pretty poor that it's not here.
Can't go to another supplier for a personalised topper as there is no time. Will just have to wait it out and hope for the best I think. Worst case scenario, we will have to have naff toppers from Hobbycraft or somewhere, but it won't spoil the day (just frustrating).
I will definitely look in to persuing getting my money back if it doesn't turn up this week. Finally, debt free for the first time since I was 18!:DFirst baby born: 21/05/2014Second baby born: 04/03/20170 -

The really perverse thing is why should the goods be timed to arrive 4 weeks before the event, not in a fixed length of time from the order? There is no earthly reason why the order can't be fulfilled in a sensible timeframe after the payment is received.
Sounds like you do without and take it to court after the wedding. search here for 'letter before action' which will give you a starting point for a formal letter demanding refund/payment or you start legal action. It is a last-chance letter, then you use money claim online (aka small claims court) which in a case like this will surely find for you. The court fees and costs will be added to the bill she would owe if it gets that far.0 -

Thanks everyone for your comments and help. Just when I'd pretty much given up hope, I did receive an email from Tasha on Tuesday saying that the topper will be with me today. Sitting waiting for the post now, and if it's not here, I'll go and buy a replacement and see what I can do after the wedding.
I'm so sorry - I only just read your post saying you may be able to make me something. Now it's too short notice (my fault for not checking back). Thanks so much anyway, it's really kind of you.
I will let you know if it does arrive today! Finally, debt free for the first time since I was 18!:DFirst baby born: 21/05/2014Second baby born: 04/03/20170 -

So, the topper arrived this morning! I was greeted by the postman holding a box marked 'fragile', which he proceeded to drop when I opened the door! Great start!
Luckily, it was well packaged and looks brilliant. What a relief!
Thanks everyone for all of your help. It's all turned out alright in the end, although I certainly won't be recommending Tasha at Claytoppers to anyone! Finally, debt free for the first time since I was 18!:DFirst baby born: 21/05/2014Second baby born: 04/03/20170
