Thanks ... I'm following the instructions, but the dumpit file that you asked me to download appears to be just a text file containing random symbols.
Before I carry on, can you confirm that this is correct, or have I got the wrong thing?
Thanks, Andy0 -
That's correct but right click the link and choose "Save target as" (IE) or "save link as" (Firefox). Then save it to your USB stick. It'll save as a file.0

Sorry Andy, just to add.
When you right click and choose save as target... make sure you save it as just "dumpit" without extension and save as type: All files.0 -
Sorry, another question. A google search tells me that the way to boot from CD is to press a key at startup ... but my PC has no PS/2 keyboard port, and my USB keyboard only works once Windows has loaded.
When the PC is turned on or restarted, I get various options coming up onscreen at startup - press F2 to enter setup etc. - but no key presses will work until Windows is running.
Is there another way within Windows to set the PC to boot from CD?
Thanks, Andy0 -
Sorry I Keep forgetting that - it might cause us problems. Just boot it with the CD in and see if it boots from it.0

Hi,
It booted from the disk ok, and xPUD started up, and I went into the file menu. However, I couldn't find either my USB or external hard drives under mnt. I could locate my second internal hard drive (drive E) - will it work to save the driver.sh and dumpit files to that drive instead?
Thanks,
Andy0 -
I'm not sure, you can certainly try it.0
-
I've just tested it myself - it should work.0

Hi, that's all done, and the report.txt and mbr.zip are saved.
What do I do next?
Many thanks,
Andy0 -
I'll PM you my email address to send me them so I can take a look.0
