iPhone 3gs - Best Deal?

Hi there,
My family are looking at getting my younger brother an iPhone for his birthday - funds are low so whilst we would like to get him an iPhone 4, we're looking at an iPhone 3gs.
Does anyone know of any good deals available?
I can pay for the phone outright (if it'll be cheaper in the long run).
We'd rather a 30day rolling contact instead of a long-term one, but it all depends on pricing.
We'd need at minimum:
50 minutes
250 texts
250MB Data
Any opinions?
Cheers,

I understand the cost could be an issue but the 3GS is already 3 years old.
If you look at wikipedias discontinued dates - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPhone#Model_comparison you can see it is highly likely the Iphone 3GS 8GB will be discontinued when the next Iphone (5 probably) is released, which is expected 3rd quarter this year.
You may be better saving more and getting a 4 which will probably have another year and a quarter or so in it.0 -

I suspect the OP wants the voting to suggest the £15 per month deals that offer the 3GS are very good

We can suggest that but I'd rather be honest and say the phone is about to become obseleted by Apple...
Cheapest contract around is £18.50 from O2 for 2 years, Thats £444 intotal. Given the phone is £319 from Apple that makes is £125 for 24 month service with the service effectivly costing a bit over a fiver a month.
Even the basic Sim Only deals are double that but it ties you into a long term contract and doesn't change the fact Apple were expected to discontinue the 3GS when the 4S came out last year but didn't but it would be a brave man that would say they will retain it when the next iphone comes out.
Cheapest isn't always the best value..0 -
The T-Mobile deal for a bit over £15 a month for 50 minutes, lots of texts (don't know how many as I don't use them!) and 500MB of data was good even accepting that the 3GS is an old model.
A deal much worse than that is a bit overpriced.
I like the 3GS and I wouldn't pay more for a newer iPhone as I've found it fine.
If I were looking for a phone at the moment the Carphone Warehouse deals on PAYG on the Nokia Lumia 710 would be my choice. I'm very impressed with the whole user experience of the Windows phone/Nokia and for, say £130 it's well worth a go.

Also I wouldn't take out a contract for someone else while I have the liability.0 -
Tesco mobile are currently offering a deal on the iPhone 3GS
500 minutes
5000 texts
1GB Data
No upfront cost for the phone.
Cant post a link as still a new user, but just google tesco mobile and you should be able to find the deal easily enough.
