Hello everyone. Welcome to the Weekly Spend Challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.

Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:

Green - within budget

Red - overbudget
Purple - zero spend
Orange - made money over the week

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her:

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x"

Good luck everyone.

    Morning all

It is a lovely sunny Sunday here. :j

I am declaring green for last week with a total of £65 spent out of £70. This week I am going for £30 I don't have anything planned so that should be easy enough as long as I take my lunch with me everyday.

I have updated the results and pledges from last week's thread let me know if there are any more or if I have missed anything.

Abundant sorry to hear things have not been going great for you. It is exciting that you have a date on Thursday, is it a first date?

Baileys babe I hope you and the family are feeling better.

RhiBi I am growing basil and tomatoes on my window sills at the moment as I live in a flat:D

Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone.

Oops I think I declared green on the other thread, when obviously I was red! Wishful thinking on my part I guess!

Good luck to everyone this week, it's going to be another challenging week as we still have another week of school holidays here.

    Hi guys!!!

i'm back after South Africa :j

Sorry I didn't come on here all week, I got back Monday but had so much to do and then working all week which was really busy, also seeing people etc and I've only just caught up on my sleep this weekend too...gah!

But I had an amazing time and I'd be back there in a shot, it was just such an experience. The holiday was amazing and the wedding was lovely. Overall, top marks!

Now, onwards to moving out in August with my friend! :j

Thanks for covering my weeks pp, this week I'll pledge £10. I'm SERIOUSLY skint for the rest of April - I overspent by quite a lot plus lost 3 days pay for the sick leave I had which is annoying (£200 annoying to be precise!), but hey ho, I've worked it all out and I should be fine if I'm disciplined!

Today I'm going to my sister's for lunch and a film and catch up, then for coffee with friends at half four. Dreading what I'm going to do about petrol as have already used a third of what should take me to Friday, and the running about today will use tons more... hmmm... thinking cap on!

    Have a FANTASTIC Sunday everyone!:D

Pointypenguin, thanks for running this thread, you would be surprised how often the thought of having to come on here and tell everybody my spends stops me taking the money out of my purse.
Baileys babe I hope you and the family are feeling better.

Feeling much better thanks, my nephew rang me this morning as he knew my dd was no longer in quarantine to see if we felt well enough to play in the woods. We did and we had such a brilliant time, lots of sunshine and larking about, my ds and younger nephew ended up so muddy they needed to have a shower when we came home. A lovely time had by all and free :money:

    Hi, can I join please???

I'd like to have a self imposed limit of £5 - might be able to spend £0 as I don't really need to buy anything but will see how I go.
