Hi, this is the Daily Threadfor Sunday 15th April. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chatabout everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring andmotivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to dotoday or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in,put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) andjoin us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be awarethat many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help othersthat don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly butif not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you goto bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two dailythreads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each newdaily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you haveto though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all,

Yes it is me up at this time , dd is off to work at 5.30 and so I offered to get up with her, she is only working for the morning, so its all good.

The Jumble was great yesterday, dd got a huge bin liner of clothes for £5, including jeans, hoodies, t shirts, shirts etc, I got OH 2 pairs of levis for 60p, and myself several bits for 30p, it all needs a good wash, so I shall start on that today.

Dinner is I think chicken curry and rice, either that or some fish, I need to list on ebay later on while its free listing.

Pulled the fridge out yesterday and cleaned under and behind it, its something I do quiet often, so how does it get so mucky ??, OH hung a large vintage metal advertising tin sign in the downstairs loo, and an old 1920's thermomoter in the utility which both look great.

Spent yesterday afternoon at my sisters eating cake and drinking tea in the garden it was lovely.

Have good days all xx

Morning RR & all who follow.
We're up & breakfasted, hubby's waiting for a phonecall to let him know the contracters are on their way & then we'll go & open the building for them, he's watching & recording the F1 as we'll have to go out in the middle of it.
I have washing on the line, next weeks clothes all ready in the wardrobe, DW is on & I have a piece of beef in the SC for lunch later.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Good Morning Redruby and Hester and All Who Follow x
Im another who was up at 5ish encouraging adult kids to get up and out to work. Both DD and DS1 are now safely deposited and earning a crust:T

Very bright but bitter out there. Hoping to get some baking done today if I can interest DS2. Have a lovely day x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Morning all,

Lovely morning here. I'm at work, had a phone call Firday to ask if I fancied working last night instead of my two day shifts. As mum is still in hospital I thought it would give me more time to go and see her so here I am shattered!! :o

Mum has not broken any bones according to the scan but is in terrible pain, in fact when I got there yesterday at two she was doubled over and had not had any pain relief since about 11am. Of course they said she should have rung the bell but she doesnt like to 'bother them' - She is being moved to a more local hospital at the begining of the week but I am really worried about her, they want her to gain some weight but the food is so unappetising she can't face it and she is not a fussy eater. I took some bits in and have bought a small food flask to make her home made soup to tempt her - the staff agreed, they can refrigerate but not heat food.

Sorry to go on but I am worried and don't want to worry DD's too much.

Morning all you early birds. oH been working since 6 but i have been snuggled under the duvet ;-) i kindly offered to make the tea but back in bed now. Hope everyone enjoyed the grand national yesterday. I was gonna go for Ronseal cos he's good over fences :rotfl:
DS made his own supper last night  and washed up the pan :T this i think is the result of open day at edinburgh uni and it finally sinking in that IF he gets his grades he'll be off in sept
RR jumble sale sounds fab. Havent seen one advertised round here for a long time, bu maybe just havent looked. Something i really miss up here is the market. Dont know if it's cos of the weather but we only get the expensive farmers' markets once a month. I'm used to London barrows. So we're totally dependent on SM. right time for another cuppa :)

    Morning everyone,

Cariad love and hugs to you and your mum, feel free to talk on here about it as much as you want, we are all here for you.

Hugs for Molly, Tru, LW, Bitsy, sunflower and Beth and anyone else that I may have forgotten.

Lou lovely to hear that things are going well.

Redruby I haven't been to a jumble sale for years, it sounds really good.

Up fairly early as DS has gone off to play rugby, it is the last match of the season, maybe their first win?:D

It is back to work tomorrow so I intend to spend today tidying and getting ready for tomorrow when we get back from church.

Tea tonight will be roast chicken and all the trimmings.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

    Good Morning All

Cariad62 - so sorry to hear about your mum. I know its not mse but when my nan was in hospital we used to take her picky bits from M&S to tempt her to eat. In fact our local hospital have an M&S food in there.

Lovely sunny start to the day here, have been researching car insurance for my DD, we have seen a lovely little car for her and doesn't look like it will be horrendously expensive to insure but still very expensive. The car is mot tomorrow so think we will pick it up later. We took her out in my car on private land again yesterday and she did really well - if she can do well and pass her test it will change my life completely as we live in a rural area and I spend half my days as Mum taxi - however I am dreading the worry that will come with it

Anyway enough of that, today I am going to get some ironing done, then head off out to take DS football, OH is much better but really feels it if he walks too far so he will staying at home. Unfortunately it is an away match over an hour away so that is a lot of my day gone. Once home am being treated to an Indian :j then will finish the ironing whilst OH, DS & friends watch Chelsea v Tottenham. We will have supporters of both teams here so that will be interesting.

So not too much OS here today, the sunshine is really showing up the fact that I need to start spring cleaning soon, cant wait for everyone else to get back to work/school so I can make a start.

Better get going its 8.30 already:eek:

    Have a great day all.x

Cariad sorry to read about your mum. Having had a bit of involvement with ill older people recently (as a relative /friend, not professional ) I've noticed how they like little and often, and more of the cakey / biscuity stuff. I wonder if the healthy diet now punted at all is actually suited for the sedentary young to middle aged adult. I remember when i had my eldest the perceived wisdom was semi or skimmed milk for all then they changed to whole milk for under twos 'who need the fat'. I would be interested to see if there are guidelines within gerantology, and if so whether they are followed in general hospitals. WL seems to be a common theme, so perhaps they too need a higher fat content, particularly if their appetites are suppressed

    Morning :hello:

My tomatoes (grown from seed) really need to go out but it's too cold atm. I think they'll end up dying in the house and I'll have to go out and buy plants. I much prefer growing them from seed.

It's frosty here this morning, had to break the ice on the chicken's water thingy.

My get-up-and-go had got-up-and-gone, but it's slowly returning, as is my brain function :D I emptied my wardrobe yesterday and gave it a good sort out. I was ruthless and flung a few things, I don't know why I was holding on to some of it when I hadn't worn them for a couple of years. This led to a bit of space so I moved the shoes, which left space in a deep drawer so I put the candle making stuff in there. Which left space where that used to be............and so it went on, lol.

Not much happening today, I try to keep sundays free so I'll just stick to that and laze about :D

    Morning All

Been up for a while but just taking my time to wake up! Will be going swimming for 9am, DD actually asked if I would go with her! I think she has realised that swimming isn't going to cause her to have a 'turn' and she could do with some exercise. She will be off to work after, I think she starts at 12.

I may go into town with her as the Cath Kidston bag I bought has broken already. I only pulled the bag to get it out of the boot and the shoulder strap snapped. Can't find the receipt so hoping they will exchange it.

Lovely day here, hope it stays that way. Did loads of washing yesterday so not much to do today.

Cariad - Hope your Mum improves, I'm sure you will tempt her with something to eat. Take care of yourself too.

EG - I couldn't believe how much my life changed as the children got older and learned to drive. We live in a rural location and felt that I was forever in the car. I now worry everytime DD goes out!

Enjoy your Sundays. Take care. XX
