Threads deleted for no apparent reason - Why?

Options
In recent weeks some threads have been deleted from the competitions board for no apparent reason. The original posts (which can be seen using google cache) were correctly formatted and broke no forum rules as far as I can see. In particular they were not self promotion and they were not for companies that have requested their competitions are not posted. Can one of the MSE team please investigate and tell us why this is happening?

Details of the most recent example can be found HERE - see post #3 - where it was found that THIS THREAD was deleted.

There has been a spate in the last week where either someone who contributed or the original poster has had the thread removed. Do agree that sometimes there has been insults against the OP.

CAN I JUST SAY IF YOU DON'T LIKE REPLIES THEN DON'T POST.

Sorry I don't know solution expecting by writing to forum team, they are kind, they normally reply. I only wandered in to say that each competition serves not only as an advertisement of their site - self promotion you could say but it also does it to collect as much data about you as possible. They have your name, address, email address, your phone numbers, your date of birth, your IP address, your interests, your online habits. They have created a profile for each participating person by the end of a competition, with more information that you'd otherwise be reluctant to share. It is all very clever. Hope it was ok to say so.

Very few want that much information, many just want an e-mail address and some a mobile number (both used just for comping). I have well over 100 wins and have had no problems, perhaps you have been entering the wrong ones?

Thankyou mjm, I haven't entered any; well I've been entered by default by some banks or retailers apparently. I am just interested in business models and psychology :D and like to talk about it :D
