The best phone for £100 is probably
Huawei Ascend g300 exclusively this Friday @ Vodafone for £100

Likely to be locked to Voda, but almost definitely will work with Talkmobile.

Other good phones to consider are Orange San Francisco (easy to unlock) or Orange San Francisco 2 = Tmobil Vivacity (unlocable for free, but this is likely to void the warranty).

The Samsung Galaxy Y (running Android) can be got unlocked from £89-99 or so, and is unlocked if bought from Carphone Warehouse. It has a reasonable processor and hits all the rights spots if you what a smartphone from a budget.

Totally disagree, the Galaxy Y has the lowest screen res - just 240 pixels wide

The Huawei Blaze for £50 is much better with a 480x320 screen

Though they are both still smallish phones, really I like a big high res screen.
But out of those two the Blaze is the better one
