There's someone in my nearest Homebase who sells windows and conservatories. She asks me every single time if I want windows or a conservatory and I say no, and then she always comments on my hair and says it's beautiful, so she must remember me!
I was in there on Good Friday buying stuff and she asked and I said no, then I was in again last Thursday and she said "hello again" and asked me again! How many people suddenly decide they want a conservatory or windows in less than a week?!Here I go again on my own....0 -

Yes theres a guy in the local homebase who im sure must sleep in the store as i've seen him every time i go in which isnt alot but been in for the past 2 or 3 years, he doesn't ask us if we are interested in windows etc.0 -
I was one of those windows people for a couple of months, years ago. I needed the money, it was a job that fit in with looking after my son, beggars can't be choosers. I don't think anyone enjoys doing it so I try and be polite (as long as they are), they are only trying to earn a living.
I was pretty rubbish at it though, not pushy enough. But you'd be surprised how many people are thinking of buying stuff like this and do want to get quotes done, I'd normally get a couple of easy appointments each shift with no persuasion needed.Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j
OU student: A103 , A215 , A316 all done. Currently A230 all leading to an English Literature degree.
Any advice given is as an individual, not as a representative of my firm.0 -

Then there are the kids with buckets waiting to pack your shopping. I would never let a child pack my shopping but I usually give them something.... they are usually just local kids wanting to raise a bit of money for their own club or whatever.
The rest get a polite "No Thank You" if they are polite and ignored if they are not. Clue for those in the business: Polite means opening the conversation by asking if you can disturb someone or if they have time to talk to you. "Hi there! We've got great deals and can beat your phone contract?" is not.I need to think of something new here...0 -

And come on here to have a moan I see !0 -
Why should I have to apologise to someone for them disturbing my day?
Then wear some Blinkers horses have to restrict your view and put some ear plugs in. They won't be able to annoy you then
If you cannot be civil to either someone who is doing their job, or someone who is collecting for a charity, maybe online grocery shopping is for you !0 -

why should they stay in doors when not asked to being approached?
If I want to help, i can walk over to them and give a donation.
If its in there job, they are going to employ people who get used to rude people.0
