I won't be complaining about my bills again...I'm obviously more MSE than I thought.

I've screwed my usage down a fair bit over the past 4 years ......but I'm still on ~ £1440 pa in a detached house ...if my OH had her way with the heating it would be more like £2000 :rotfl:

But where is the regulator who should be forcing them to play fair? Nowhere.

I've asked Ofgem to consider intervention as it is obvious that EDF are not compliant with SLC27. EDf have written to me alleging that the SLC doesn't apply to customers who have been with them for less than a year.

Such utter nonsense will hopefully be met with a robust response by Ofgem who have been informed by MSE'ers that their Regulations are being ignored.:o

I spend about half that for gas and electricity in a detached house, not new build but reasonably well insulated. One person can cut quite a few corners on when and where to heat, plus a good stock of thermal underwear goes a long way ...

The problem is, you've had to do this. That speaks volumes about the regulator.

I don't think the regulator cares. If it wasn't for other groups and customers applying pressure, they would simply let the market run itself.

When do they audit compliance to the SLC's? Yearly compliance audits exist for the BSC but not the SLC's so what do they do to check?

    :o

I have been with edf for c. 14 months and they still don't comply

I will be telling edf I am not satisfied with their response - which doesnt address the main point (no justification for the change in DD at the time) - and asking to take it to the Ombudman.

It's a well made point and one which recurs. Ofgem seem so far detatched from the day to problems we see written about on the Forum.

I want to support Ofgem because I think such a body is absolutely required. I have had some useful dialogue with them and I know they are listening. I believe they are under resourced and burdened by bureacracy. They could do a lot better.

The consolation is that MSE's Gas and Electrcity Forum has become a serious player for customer rights. The supplier's who don't take that on board are taking a very high risk approach.

If EDF believe they can just ignore their License Obligations and put that on the record to a customer complaint, they are going to be greatly embarrased.

Like Eon before, it is the Supplier's who are peddling this nonsense and events are catching up with them.

The estimated 12 month was £1330,

    To McKneff (and snowcat53)

How did the projected consumption in kWhrs underlying the "£1330" compare with the previous 12 months actual consumption? Do you have the gas/electric split? What was the fuel split between the £131 (and then £100) per month?

I have been with EDF for 4.5 years, every year they try and put the DD way above what it should be.

Last night I got them to reduce it from their projected £120 back to £98 where it should be.
From their most recent review - on the same paperwork where they are putting it up £1171/12 = £<98 not £120 !!

From memory they used the same figures from last year to calculate next years.

The split was % as 70/30, i have gas central heating and a water boiler which is gas. (only used about once a fortnight)
    everything else is electric.

I'm quite happy now that I have negotiated the drop to £100 and getting paranoid about leaving lights on. Have got rid of a fridge freezer in the garage because i think it was overworking as the red light was on, bought a new A rated small freezer.
Just being that little more vigilant now.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Another example of dividing by 10?:(

Could you post the fuel split on (their) £120.

Also bumping McKneff and snowcat53 on that.

    Edit: Thanks McKneff, posts crossed.
