... that they didn't know existed!
:D
You know:
"Oooh, you've got a 7 seater, I'll hitch a ride with you."
"I've just bought a 65" TV from Currys. Got the box out to the car park and it won't fit into my MINI, and was just wondering if you were busy..."
"I'm off on holiday and renting a 7 seater is sooo expensive for 2 weeks, so I was just just wondering..."
"Erm, my old kitchen won't fit into my MX5 for the trips to the dump..."
Cynical?! Moi?
:D

LOL
That sounds oddly familiar, we used to have an Astra estate*, then a Zafira and got a fair few calls from friends/family along those lines when we had those cars.
Oddly enough I can't say we had such calls when we had a Corsa, or a Rio.
*A real pig to drive (the engine wasn't up to the job, and it didn't handle well).0 -
Yeah i get the same when ive had estate cars. 99% its my sister.
Who decides to buy some fence panels gets outside he shop and realise you cant fit 6ft panels in a 1988 fiat panda.
Ahh but she knows someone with an estate and roof bars which is usually full of fuel also, So costs her nothing.
Having a van outside one day a couple of lads ask if i want to sell it, No thanks.
Sometime later it suddenly made me think i wonder if they had broken into a house or nicked something and needed transport.
Maybe they nicked enough cash to buy a cheap van?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Glad to know its not just me then! I own a Volvo 940 estate that pretty much converts into a van with the seats down.
I've helped people move house, moved an engine once (Subaru Legacy engine!), collected beds from stores, the list goes on and on!0 -
Funny... Never thought about it before - but you are right!! And all those trips to school activities where its better to "go in your car" as "theres lots of seats"...0

It's even worse when you own a minibus, 7 seaters weren't as available when we had baby no 4 so we bought a 12 seater minibus and took the back 3 seats out for double buggy, shopping etc.
Suddenly I was the most popular mum at rugby and school sports activities.
I can count on the fingers of one hand how many people actually said thanks for the lift though and only one mum offered me petrol money which I declined as I would be going anyway but it's nice to be offered.14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie - 2/140 -
I had an old Renault Scenic for a couple of years, where the back seats came out, and it became a little van. I lost count of the amount of house moves I did, oh, and the phone calls saying "B&Q want £15 to deliver this, so I told them to stuff it, can you come collect me and my great big heavy stuff and drive me 20 miles with it, oh, and I'm outside B&Q with the stuff just now, and I know you need to do a school run in 10 minutes, but can you just squeeze me in first?"
I was secretley glad when the car died a final death, and I could get a "normal" car.0 -
Glad it's not just me!! Ours goes off on holiday for a couple of weeks every year, and we have to make do with a Corsa in its place.0

My brother has a van and he says that he's never been so popular!"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0

Yes of course, oh and btw, I don't really want to drive my [insert 7 seater name here] all the way across France without aircon, it would be much better to borrow yours and put the roof down...0 -
I'm moving, can I use your car..
I've bought a sofa from Ebay, can I use your car..
I've promised to take XXX to my boss's place, can I use your car..
The taxi driver won't take me, the baby, buggy, and a months worth of Tesco shopping, can you get me now...
Yep. I too own a galaxy. And I am much better at saying NO these days. It's the expectation that you can drop everything and do it now that I get miffed at.0
