I must admit, i always use Travelodge, being my preferred choice of hotel. It is what it is, and as long as you accept that? I've had some cracking breaks i wouldn't otherwise have been able to afford. Yes, i've had some shabby rooms, too. Some i've opened the door, stepped inside the room, and stepped straight back out again, depending maybe to some extent, on the travelodge.

However, i've always found the front of house staff more than willing to please in resolving things which aren't necessarily their problem.

I have a few favoured travelodge's now, and yes, i've just booked 3 more breaks with my £12 sale rooms, and without these, i would have no holiday at all. Most b and b's these days charge around £35, and believe me, i've stayed in far worse b and b's. Yes, i ring before i arrive at the hotel, and i've found my favoured tl's to be accomodating when requesting the room for my stay.

I've backpacked extensively, and all i ever ask for are clean facilities, clean bedding etc. After all, how much time are you going to spend in your room?

All in all, bring on my next stay in a travelodge. Where else can you stay for £12 a night? I suspect it would cost more than this on a campsite nowadys. Now wait for the comments saying its worse than a campsite :rotfl:

A big thankyou to travelodge, ( no, i don 't have shares.) :)

I'll use TL now and again but you get what you pay for. If you've paid £12 and they get a walk up from a local business that is a regular customer (and prepared to pay £60/70) then a value judgement will be made-be it TL, Marriott or British Airways.

I wouldn't book TL for a late arrivial for this reason when on a cheap deal and if it isn't a cheap deal then I would be spending my money at another hotel anyway TBH

Never had a problem with, well , what has been £9 rooms, so far. Never been refused a room yet. I know they take the price paid into consideration when allocating rooms, but never had a problem with that, either.

Maybe alot depends on how you treat the person stood on the other side of the reception desk.

This is probably the case with most things. :)

OP - lay it to bed - you won't get anything and you've wasted more time than already needed being annoyed with them. Just make sure they never get your custom again and tell as many people as you can about your experience.

I'm already on actioning this.

I've spent well over £100 on accommodation since this incident - obviously not with Tavelodge.

I've told loads of people about the scam - many of whom were unaware of the risks you take when making a booking Travelodge. At least 2 have told me they won't be using Travelodge again. Gladdens the heart! :D:D

I've also posted a few times on their Facebook page - and despite what they say there about arranging a refund, they have sent me a private email saying they won't be refunding my money, so they lie on Facebook too.

My OH had exactly the same issue last year (the MSE post is here somewhere!

Eventually after several letters, they offered about £75 compensation (IIRC) for messing her about (they calculated it as a mileage allowance even though they'd already paid for the transport), so overall they'd probably lost at least £150 and a great deal of goodwill. On the same night, there were two other people who had also been double booked and had to be put put in a nearby hotel at Travelodge's expense.

All for the sake of selling a £19 room twice.

Doesn't seem great business sense to me.
I would guess that the business sense in it is that most times they do it they don't have a problem.
So they take an extra £19 ten times and pay out £150 once - they're still £40 up on the deal.

This is the sort of post that really "gladdens my heart" because by boycotting TL it means even more available £12 rooms for ME. :T

Please keep up the good work. :rotfl:

If only it were true - I only ever used TL as a last resort at the end of a long day and needed a room so always had to pay top dollar.

Something you'd expect would entitle you to good service and accommodation, not the dirty room and doublebooking scam TL have descended into.

Since the incident mentioned at the start of this thread I've slept in my vehicle rather than use TL. Well to be honest, I did sort of use TL, I parked in their carpark and slept in my van LOL :T:T:T

and doublebooking scam TL have descended into.

Hardly a scam when it`s clearly shown in their T&C, which you have to agree to, to book a room.

Roll on the next £12 sale. :rotfl:
