I would write to Creation, copies to Paladin and Dreams, noting that the DD has not been taken and offering to assist in setting it up again and paying the outstanding balance.
Second this. Put in writing that creation have informed you that dreams failed to set up the credit agreement and that this is the reason that payments have not been made. Then go on to offer either payment in full (under the original agreement terms) or to pay the amount owed to date along with setting up a direct debit to cover future payments.
You need to put it in writing so that if it ever does get to court, you can show you have tried to be reasonable and you have been trying to pay what is due. Courts tend to look down on companies who steam through the legal process when the consumer is trying to be reasonable. You keep using that word. With all due respect OP in February they informed you (and you then realised) payments weren't being taken and they asked you to come into the store.
As has been said you need to be pro-active.
I had a 0 % finance deal when I bought my sofas (Co-op) - finance provided by Creation. But I didn't have any problems because the DD was taken ok.
I did, however, have problems with the AA (insurance I think) when a DD was missed - because two characters in the account number had been transposed. By me.
If you enter into a finance agreement you should be paying it and it is your responsibility to make sure it is paid, not theirs to collect it from you.
The suggestion to write to Creation and CC to Dreams and Paladin sounds good; especially as Dreams MAY have been at fault initially IF they haven't sent the paperwork on. Chances are though that they did; then Creation have passed everything through to Paladin who will chase for the money.
How does 0% finance work?
Store has items (highish value) they wish to sell. As in incentive to the customer, and because other stores do it, they form a contract with a finance provider. When a store sells the goods the customer gets the good, the store gets an amount of money from the finance provider and the finance provider collects the money in.
example
Store buys goods to sell for £50; applies retail mark up and advertises goods for £100
Customer agrees to pay £100
0% finance available customer decides to take it. (Why not, it's a good deal)
Store gets £90 immediately
Customer pays, over time, to finance provider, £100
Finance provider gets a pre-tax profit of £10
Store has made £40 gross profitDon't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily Dickinson

You may now wish to check your credit report to see what's been reported from the date the agreement was signed (if anything).

Op has been contacted by a "finance company" for a debt for which Dreams have responded by saying they
"have nothing to do with it and my credit agreement is with a company called creation"
So it's not exactly clear who has what money and who owes who what. Therefore it's not clear if anybody is reporting to credit agencies.
So yes, op should still check her credit report to see if anything has been reported (whether wrongfully or rightfully) regarding this. Especially since Creation have received data on op as they confirmed the account status to be 'pending'0 -

Sorry I wasnt saying that they shouldn't check. Even if there are no circumstances that it would benefit.....its still a good idea to keep an eye on your credit report.
I'm merely saying the OP shouldn't worry about it because even if they did manage to register a default, OP could get it removed. Doing such a thing to someones credit report when there is circumstances such as these is actually one of the few times that you can claim for distress damages under DPA.
But the OP needs to start putting things in writing quickly. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
You might not be getting conned but buying a mattress on interest free from dreams = getting ripped!0
