TalkTalk Getting 8Mb The Easy way

I have found a route round a thorny problem that I want to share. I Have Talktalk for phone with Broadband (Not in a talktalk area so pay £10). This has always been at the 2mb speed as it was with BT. I noticed on the website that Talktalk were advertising 8mb for my area. I spent hours and hours on the phone to their awful customer services and got nowhere. Finally was redirected to 02890531677 which is the one of the new order lines. I explained what my problem was and that I was on the brink of chucking money at BT and the chap said the imortal words "No problem" he then explained he just needed to place an order on the system to process the upgrade and that this would be done by the next billing date!

I'm sure there are lots of other frustrated Talktalk users putting up with 2mb when 8mb is available . Hope this helps!

    Sorry yr having such a nightmare which ironically was why I read yr post - I wanted to know what TT cus services are like, see if they have improved any, apparently not :( If it helps any do continue reading this thread because there are lots of bits or really useful info, provided by real people and not the like of Charles Dunston, these people really shud try calling their own call centres!

    OK, I just want to get this straight before I start yelling.

    Your line could support 8Mb but you weren't getting it? Or was it that you were only getting 2MB because your line could only support 2MB and TalkTalk said they'd upgrade it?

    Basically, was it the service which was upgraded or the line?

    have you noticed any speed ugrade yet? I have spent hours being pushed around from one to another dept. They mostly say i have to wait for bt to unbundle the exchange, but my neighbour is already gettin at least 6.5 megs, let me know if your speed incrtease cheers

  • I have had about 15 different people telling me I would have to wait for the exchange to be unbundled. The thing is they said it would upgrade after the next bill so about 3 weeks yet so I will post the result but the conversation seemed the most genuine and we have the number I originally posted to get back to them not the anonymous 0870******!
