Thanks DiD, yep I agree with you. It's either a mistake or a blag. It's just so frustrating, as I say I never give out my number. It's either from a list of numbers or a dialler. Thanks for your reply.Debts to date: A&L Loan: Paid Off!, :TMMU:Paid Off!, :T

No worries.
It's most likely a blag.
I never give out my number either and despite me being in debt, I've had sms and voicemail msgs (I don't answer the phone if I don't know the number) for a debt that I know I don't owe. It's annoying but it's best just to ignore. They'll eventually give up.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

Just thought I'd update, got a missed call and voicemail this morning. Sounds like they are after someone else. I've recently changed my phone number so could be that.Debts to date: A&L Loan: Paid Off!, :TMMU:Paid Off!, :T

ignore them or tell them to get lost. i would favour the first
whatever you do dont go to any hassle or expense due to these idiots0 -
Be careful with these jokers, keep an eye on your credit file. They placed a default on mine causing me all sorts of grief for a debt I knew nothing about. It was only after being refused credit and checking my file I realised.
They were pretty quick to remove it once I asked for full details of the debt etc. No apology though!0 -
They have called me everyday for the last 5 days and we have the same conversation. I tell them to tell me what this "debt" is for and every call has ended with "we'll call you tomorrow"
I have no debt. All credit checks show this. Account was closed and balance was zero. I hadn't used the card for 4 months n the whole te the balance was zero.
I have moved 300 miles away from the address they have for me so they don't have my new address just one mobile number.
The staff are very rude and don't like it when I refuse to confirm details... They are cold calling me. Why would I give my dob, address n confirm telephone numbers.0 -
01737 235203 is the number they always call from0

Can they place a notice or default on my credit rating?? Even though I owe no debt0
-
An email, a text so far today.... I expect a call later. They have ignored my letters requesting proof of the debt and I have stated they are stressing me out and will complain to OFT, trading Standards n police if they persist0
-
and they continue to harass me:
Dear Sir,
Re:
We thank you for your e.mail.
We have no record of you ‘proving’ this debt was paid in full. (This was requested by us on the 13th April 2012).
On the 16th April we advised the original creditor that you stated you had paid the balance outstanding, “in February by bank transfer”. On the 1st May they replied and stated they had no record of this and consider there to have been a balance of £135.51 outstanding
We have attempted to obtain further details to resolve this to all parties satisfaction but, unfortunately, you declined to do security checks when we called you and, on one occasion, appeared to terminate the call.
We do not consider the balance on a credit file to be relevant. Some companies at the point of selling a debt may reduce the balance to zero to indicate they themselves are no longer owed monies.
In the circumstances I do not consider that we have breached OFT Guidance.
The matter is not closed until it has been resolved. We have asked the original creditor to provide statements to detail the balance and we would ask you, once again, to provide the evidence to support your claim.
Please be assured we are keen to resolve this matter and would urge you to co-operate fully with us to ascertain whether or not the balance is outstanding.
Regards
Mr R Kingdon0
