Making additional payments... Barclaycard
Comments
-
To be honest, all this is so confusing and it doesn't have to be, its Barclaycards choice to make it difficult to reduce the balance by additional payments.
I never had such issues when making additional payments to Capital One.
I sent an email to Barclaycard with regard to a fixed Monthly payment and how or whether such a payment would be adjusted/recalculated or not requested should an additional payment be made on-line via my Debit Card.
Barclaycards reply, is as follows:
Dear xxxxxxx
Let me explain you that merchant credits do not reduce the current balance so the minimum payment will still be taken by DD.
1) If you make a payment to the account by other means for the minimum amount, before the BACS date, we will not take the minimum payment by DD.
2) If you make a payment to the account by other means for part of the minimum amount, before the BACS date, we will only take the remaining amount by DD.
For example:
Minimum Payment due: £100
you pay £50 on the IVR before the BACS date
Direct Debit will claim £50
3) If you make a payment to the account by other means after the BACS date, the minimum payment DD will still be claimed.
Merchant credits do not reduce the current balance so the fixed payment will still be taken by DD.
If you make a payment by other means before the next BACS date, we will still request the fixed amount unless the payment will put the account in to credit. In that case the fixed amount will be adjusted.
I trust this information is of assistance.
Should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact me again.
Kind Regards
Does anyone actually understand Barclaycards reply ?0
