Cheers, but I knew that already!
S'pose my question wasn't very clear, but we already ordered over £1,000 of stamps a couple of hours ago.
I was wondering the same thing... the ones that don't say gummed or self adhesive, what are they? Would I have to buy a job lot of Pritt Stick as well?
Edit: I should have said, I was referring to the Royal Mail rolls of 1000 stamps!0 -

If everyone went out and purchased 2nd Class Stamps, and businesses only used 2nd Class franking - then Royal Mail would end up only seeing second class post. Now, because this would create such a backlog and they do not have storage facilities for the excess 2/3 day deliveries, they would have to deliver it the next day!!
Why the hell is everyone sucking up to this "First Class" BS - when you never get anything first class, that's if it turns up at all?
After all, we are the biggest customer Royal Mail has - so why won't they listen???
Because we are all soft and say nothing - CASE CLOSED.... (maybe!)
a backlog of what? the same volume of mail?
sadly you forgot to key DSA mail into that 'plan'0 -

all stamps have adhesive of one type or another
using glue flags it as a reused stamp0 -
I don't generally send many letters - perhaps a few birthday & christmas cards, but I checked my stash and found I only had 2 stamps left... So I went into town (Faversham, Kent) to buy a couple of books of 2nd class, and found there were none available anywhere. The post office had none and didn't know when they'd get any in, and none of the other shops that normally supply them had any... A couple of shops had some 1st class stamps left.
If I want to post more than 2 2nd class letters, I'll have to queue at the PO counter! An extraordinary situation.0 -
Some of my pre-decimal coins are as valid today as the day they were issued, as follows:
1953 Coronation Crown
1966 Churchill Crown
The above were worth 5 shillings when issued, and are still worth 25 New Pence when used as currency
(All Dates). All gold Sovereigns (including pre-decimalisation) are still valid currency worth £1 face value.
So are pre-decimalisation stamps valid or not?
Custardy's comments suggest they ought to be.
I suspect they are woth a lot more than face value in mint condition.
Probably worth less if used.0 -
Costco is currently selling 5 packs of 12 1st class stamps for £25.20 and still loads of stock @ lakeside branchSaving is my middle name:money:0

I placed an order on-line on 06 -04-12 with Royal Mail for 10 books of 2nd class(120 stamps) - I received confirmation by email and still no money has been taken from my account and (of course) no delivery has been made - I emailed customer support on Friday and received an automated response "We will respond within 12 days" - this is a appalling position to be put in.....
Same sort of thing; ordered a load of stamps last Friday, apparently to be "Delivered in 1-2 working days". Now it's Wednesday and still nothing - no follow up email from them advising when they might be sent either.0 -
Me too. I ordered a sheet of 2nd class on Monday the 16th and have had no follow up about dispatch. I would assume they're snowed in with orders, but a follow up email wouldn't go a miss.0

My order of 10 books of 2nd class stamps finally arrived - 10 days after ordering them - has your bank account been debited yet ?0 -
I think that anyone who still uses 1st class postage needs there heads examining - 2nd class has exactly the same compensation in the event of RM losing the item - ie maximum of 6 * 1st class stamps....
And as for time taken for delivery - RM website, admits NO GUARANTEE on either !!
I would swear that, many years ago - I used to be able to put a first class letter in the post box after lunchtime and guarantee it's arrival anywhere in the country in the first post (ie by 7am) the next morning........0
