It sounds you are stressed and perhaps a bit exhausted. The indecisiveness is from giving your brain too much to think about / too many decisions all day, and you get to the stage where you get a flat battery brain. One of the best things you can do to combat this is adjust your sleeping, to get more/enough sleep, but do it consistently and stick to it. It will take at least 6 weeks of consistently getting more sleep to feel better. So, change your routine to start going to bed a lot earlier, and you may start to feel a lot less depressed.

From an Occupational Health point of view, any health conditions you may have are only of interest to your employer in so much as there are some things which may require adjustments for you to do the job. (I'm not thinking of you specifically here, more a general you).

An employer can only ask questions relating to health that are directly relevant to the role. eg. it wouldn't necessarily be relevant to ask a keyboard operator if they had a problem with mobility. Obviously some issues while not impacting on the role directly will still need to be taken into accout. So following the example above, while mobility is not a requirement for the role, any mobility issues may need to be discussed to ensure the employee can access the parts of the building of they need to / evacuate safely etc.

I don't know what sort of work you do, and I'm not naieve (sp!) enough to think that discrimination doesn't happen... but there is no reason why depression or any other mental health issue should hold you back at work. Provided of course you feel physically and emotionally able to do the job. If you're worried about this aspect of things, try having a look at the Equality Act 2010, it may help to set your mind at ease a bit.

Something else to bear in mind is that 1 in 4 (if not more) people will be affected by mental health issues at some point during their life. Many (most, I would think) of these continue to work, and to work well. There are many people in my organisation who are on anti-depressants (I work in occ health so that's not a random guess lol) and they continue to be produtive, respected members of the workforce. Many of them are in management positions.

As others have said, we're not here to diagnose and I think you would be best to speak to your GP about any concerns you have. But I wanted you to know that depression is really not a bar to a fulfilling career.

    Take care, all the best.

I agree with the other posts that you should really see your GP.

However, when I was suffering from anxiety and depression, my GP suggested I try an online CBT course called 'living life to the full'. If you google it, it will come up. It may be useful if you want to try it.
