Direct debits?

Just got my water bill for the yearly direct debits. Amount due £112 and direct debits are £12.50 per month for 12 months. Surely that can't be right. Shouldn't it be £112 divided by 12 equaling £9 something. Any advice please.

Are you sure it is for 12 months? Often they are for 8 or 9 months.0

Is the £112 last years bill or the estimate for next years bill? If its last years bill maybe they charge you more to pay by DD rather than paying it in one lump sum.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

As its an estimate they probably set the DD slightly higher so that you dont end up in debt at the end of the year.constantworrier wrote: »It's the estimate for next year. Thankyou.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

My water bills have always been paid over 10 months.
It could be they are anticipating your usage to be more this year/or their charges are going up.
It could even be a mistake! Phone them and ask.If my posts have random wrong words, please blame the damn autocorrect not me

Hi newbutold. The letter has the list starting from 15/5/2012 til 15/4/2013. 12 payments of £12.50 amount due £112.50. So they are on the one hand saying they think I will use £112.50 but they are charging me £150. I've emailed them. Thankyou. My water bills have always been paid over 10 months.
