    That's very interesting.

I freeze all sorts of stuff but have never frozen creme fraiche.

I see it on the reduced counter at our local Tesco & Co-op quite often but have only bought it if I have a use for it in the very near future.

Do you just pop it in the freezer the normal tub or do you decant it into a tupperware container?

How long would you say it lasts?

    Thanks

I freeze cream too, mainly double cream as never by single. It's never in the freezer for very long, a month or so because I make sure I use it before I buy more but it's very handy just to have there.

I just put it in it's tub, not sure whether you're supposed to mind. Give it a stir when it's defrosted and it's good as new :)

    Hi tigerfeet,

I have only ever frozen it in sauces but according to this thread it's fine to freeze as it is:

    Freezing Creme Fraiche

I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the replies together.

quintwins, this thread might give more ideas for using up your creme fraiche:

I fried off some bacon bits that I had in the fridge (75p in MrT's a couple of weeks ago.) Bunged in some garlic puree and some sliced mushrooms that needed using up. Did some pasta with a few handfuls of frozen corn that I found at the bottom of the freezer. When the bacon/mushroom/garlic mixture was done I stirred in the the creme fraiche and then combined the mixture. Simples! and very economical

DC2 has asked that I cook that dinner again :D Though I will probably bung some fresh herbs from the garden next time.

Could als be used as a sauce for chops or steak as well I reckon if you just do garlic and mushies and don't add the bacon.

    Hi paganflossy,

Yes you can. As your thread has dropped down the Old Style board I've added it to the existing thread on freezing creme fraiche where you'll find lots of advice.
