Hi All
I finally booked our holiday and will be going to Tunisia in June. Lots of things going round my head !!!! More anxious than excited !!
The main one is about Cow's milk - thankfully my LO has been drinking out of a beakers for 6 months now and drinks cows milk happily - once in the morning and once at bedtime.
Anyone know if they sell cow's milk in Tunisia and if they dont what alternatives.....any good strategies?
Thanks

take calpol and nurofen liquids, and take adequate holiday insurance.
no idea about milk, but mine normally pick something up and get a short term temperatureRemember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?0 -
Tunisia will be baking hot in June so that would be my main worry. Make sure you have a good shade cover for the pushchair etc.
Yes you can get milk easy but it tends to be more creamy than here. Take some dioralite in case of tummy troubles.0 -
Not the best place to take a baby:eek:
But yes, agree with the above, take dioralite for tummy upsets (they're common there), calpol, neurofen, plenty of nappy rash cream for sore bot from diarrhea, be careful buying bottled water, the mineral content in some is very high. Also be careful giving baby ice cream, stick to those in the freezer rather than scoops.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
We took our 11 month old + our 2 year old to Tunisia in June 2007.
It was absolutely fine!!!!!!! Nothing in the slightest to worry about.
They both ate from the hotel buffet like we did. Lots of choice. We stuck to just the bottled water as you'd expect, all those sensible rules. Hotel had milk every morning on the buffet and hotel were happy to get some for 11 month old in the evening. Tunisians love kids and will bend over backwards to help you.
Normal 3 star in Sousse. Lots of suncream. No drugs needed at all. Think the only thing I was a bit hot on was taking some anti bac wipes to wipe the highchair tray with before every meal, but I did that in the UK too.
Relax and enjoy it. Your littly will have a fab time, so make sure you do too!Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

We went to Tunisia 2 years in a row (May time) - I agree about the sun being strong (I burnt my back quite badly because I had a low cut top on and went for a walk on the beach without thinking about putting cream on it. Just be careful with the sun.
Cow's milk - yes, they have it. They don't only have goats milk.
As for it being ok for a baby, that's for you to decide but I personally don't see any issues. I had an upset stomach one trip for a day, but that could happen anywhere, and buffets can be a bit more dangerous for germs. That would be the same everywhere though, I've had upset stomach in the US, and also (a worse case) in Delhi!!0 -
Doesn't say if it is your first foreign trip, but if it is I always advise taking some Hipp Organic Fruit pots (or similar) for the take off and landing to help with the little one's ear pressure. Never had any issue getting them through security - but Boots after security sometimes sell them.
Just take plenty wipes!0 -

Yes, because their NHS red book warns you not to take them abroad during the first year or you invalidate the warranty
They have babies there too.0 -
As long as you are staying in a reputable Hotel, you will be fine, Tunisia isn't a backward country, and general standards are no worse than many of your usual Med destinations, I've been quite a few times since 1989 and 4 times with a child, never had any problems, all the hotels We've stayed have been family orientated so lots of small children and babies around, basically just take the same precautions that you would any other Med resort.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0
