What can we do

My neighbour was telling me today that her brother is selling laxatives on E-bay that the doctor has prescribed for him.
He no longer needs the prescription but as he doesn't pay for it he thinks it is ok to carry on getting it and sell it on e-bay.
My neighbour has told him it is wrong but he won't listen.
How can we stop him. You can buy this item over the counter for £11.99 and he sells for £9.99.
Makes me so cross as it is tax payers money paying for his prescription in the first place.
So what can i advise her to do.

Try calling the doctors surgery, if they cant tell you what to do at least they will let his GP know and he may stop getting them.
I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that you couldn't sell prescription meds on ebay, so maybe e-mailing them as well would help.:dance:One good turn gets most of the duvet!! :dance:0 -

If you can buy it over the counter, then it's not a prescription-only drug, - i'm not sure what ebay's stance is on over the counter medication.0 -
There are no UK sellers laxatives listed on ebay for £9.99 atm or in the completed listings, so maybe he has stopped.
If he is still doing it I think you should report it to your local area health authority.
I have to pay for prescriptions and it really pees me off that someone who gets them free is abusing the system so blatantly and making a profit from OUR money.Oh dear, here we go again.0 -
yes its still there. Normacol plus £7.99 plus £2.00 p&p.When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life that you have a thousand reasons to smile

If he doesnt pay for the prescription because he is on benefits etc then you could try the DWP or whatever its called these days, they are very very keen to catch benefit cheats these days

Firebomb his car.
Or call the doctor's surgery, but with patient confidentiality etc, they might not pass the info on..."I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something."0 -

Surely he can't be on benefits (if I've looked at the correct seller), they had a turnover of £1000 + in the last 30 days.

He doesn't need to be on benefits to get free prescriptions.
He is probably taking other medication (e.g for his heart, diabetes etc) which entitles him to a medical exemption certificate because he has to take them for life. He can then have all his prescriptions free even if the medication is not related to the life long condition.
I agree that re-selling his medication is unethical and should be reported.0 -
They might not be claiming any benefits. I wouldn't have thought so. It looks as if they are operating a business.-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--
