Why do I keep getting rejected???

Thats quite alright :-)0

You are overexposed.
You've only been in your property 2 years.
3 credit chceks as well will make you appear desperate.
This. 3 failed credit checks in quick succession will make lenders nervous. In any case lenders don't HAVE to lend you money just because you have applied.
There are 3 credit reference agencies, you've only checked two. You need to get your report from Call Credit/Noddle.0 -

I see what you are saying, but rejected from the first application? And the second application? I will check the third credit agency, but I don’t have anything against me.. I have had Barclaycard for 15 years, mbna is not showing at all anywhere, I have no financial associates, no CCJ nothing. I have been in my current job for over 5 years, and have finally managed to earn a really good salary. Apart from 2 credit cards and a mortgage (which is nowhere on my credit file). Eck, I am boring, I normally help other people with credit card problems. The only other thing I can think of is that I live in the channel islands and I am not on the electoral roll (as there isn’t one here, we can’t vote in UK elections), but will never be able to fix that.
Thanks for your help (well, some of you)0 -
not being on the electoral roll is often (if not always) an auto-decline. I guess you took out those cards whilst living on the mainland?
If so, maybe appeal the rejections in writing and provide proof of income and address. Sit tight until they respond and dont apply any more. 3 applications in a short space isn't a big deal...it's when you start doing 3,4 and 5...
good luck0 -

Thanks, yes on mainland.. Can't do very much about the electoral roll really. I did check whether they would accept applications from the CI, and all did (for eg Nationwide says no to CI residents). Another factor I suppose is that if I stopped paying, they would have to take me to court here using local courts and local advocates (slightly different legal system). Ah well!! Thanks0 -
Apart from the replies above, is there anyone else that could give me some reason (especially in light of mbna not being on my credit report)
The "replies above" are very likely to be correct, its hard for anyone to give more specific reasons as we're neither the borrower or the lender in this case and can't weigh up your precise financial picture vs. their precise risk model for lending.
What else would you like people to add?If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -

When I wrote that post at 2:05pm, apart from a discussion between the 2 posters on my post, the only thing of worth was
OP you have very high limits and very high utilisation on those cards.
Fair enough, but I had mentioned only my Barclaycard was on my 2 credit reports (credit limit of £7k, balance outstanding was £800) and not my mbna. I am surprised a 7K credit limit on a 100k salary is enough to stop them giving me a credit card. After my post which you quote, other people came forward with useful suggestions and I thanked them.0 -
Electoral role, there's your answer0

Is there anything else at all on your credit reports other than the Barclaycard? The fact that your MBNA card and your mortgage aren't showing up suggests that there may be an issue with your address history, this could also be the reason. If you have nothing else on your reports other than that one account, then there's a lack of credit history, which will also make lenders decline youDebt free and staying that way! :beer:0

On the salary front - because they rarely verify salary information, many of these lenders tend to take this high salary with a pinch of salt, hence it lends (no pun intended) little weight to the application.0
