I am currently selling tickets to a show that we ordered tickets for under the impression it was during half term and the kids would off from school. We're now unable to attend and I have put them on ebay to get something back on the tickets as they cost over £60 including postage and booking fees. I've just received this message
would you consider ending the auction for £40? my 6 yr old son goes for plastic surgery for benign tumour on monday and this would cheer him up no end!
My question is would you? I've started them at just under £30. so its not a lot more than what I am willing to lose them for but the listing is only a 3 day listing so will end quite soon anyway. There are no current bidders.

God...it is up to you in the end. Such a hard thing to decide as you never know if they are lying or not.0

As long as you are sure this is not a con...
I remember reading on here of a ebayer who was *allegedly* in hospital after a heart attack while buying some crap!I lost my job as a cricket commentator for saying “I don’t want to bore you with the details”.Milton Jones0 -
The buyer has 100% feedback and I have no obvious reason to think its a con, I think I'll just send a message saying to bid and see if they are lucky.0

So is she saying that she wants to give these to him before Monday. Surely if the auction ends before then and she won them she could still tell him before his operation (if indeed this is the case). I would decide whether to sell not on the 'emotional' part but on whether you've had many hits on this item, watchers etc. I guess if its for a particular theatre then you're limited to people within a certain distance of you. Would you have time to relist if they didn't sell before they expire.0

I wouldnt sell them on the emotional angle either.
She shouldnt need to even tell you about this and i dont think someone genuine would - they would just bid in the normal way
If your happy with the price sell, if not dont - just dont be influenced by the story0 -
I would sell them ...I am a big softee !:oI have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes

Even with 100% FB, who is to say she is telling you the truth.
Surely if this was true, wouldnt the mother buy the tickets no matter the price, if it is for her child's happiness.
Just sounds like trying to put a guilt trip on you, and get the tickets cheap. People do it all the time. They wouldnt get away with it in a shop, so why ebay.Mansion TV. Avoid at all cost's :j0 -
My wife was diagnosed with a brain tumour last year (which has thankfully repsonded to intensive radiotherapy), but I can't ever imagine us using that to get a bargain of someone. I know I can be cynical but this just sounds iffy to me. I would have thought going to the theatre after the surgery would have been better.
What supporting evidence is there. E.g what kind of things have they been buying with their 100% feedback. Does it support the view its an average family/ or all for kids. If its at all business orientated, or included other show tickets, I wouldn't sell as it could easily be a tout, especially if its a popular show. Are there other auctions for the same show? what prices have they been going for?
Personally, I'd let the auction run its normal course. From MSE Martin - Some General Tips On Holiday Home Organisations and Sales Meetings
DO NOT TOUCH ANY OF THEM WITH A BARGEPOLE!0 -
Thats quite shocking   and as already said if it were my child l would just bid for the tickets regardless. Tell them to go jump, they are taking the pi**0
