Does anyone know a nice place to holiday thats easy to get to by train

Hello, my boyfriend and I are looking to go on holiday but neither of us drive. I'm looking for a place that's not too expensive and easy to reach by train or bus. I like walking in woods or beaches so if anyone knows of anywhere I'd love to hear about it.

Where's your starting point ? The Cambrian Coast line in Wales is a good scenic rail route for beaches etc

What about The New Forest around Lymington?

There are great travel links there.

Llandudno is easy to reach by train and the railway station is within easy (and flat) walking distance of the town centre and many of the hotels and guest houses. There are two beaches, the North Shore is the busy one and the West Shore is the quieter and more scenic one. The Land Train which runs from the pier entrance will take you to and from the West Shore.

There's an hourly service between Llandudno and Manchester, otherwise there are services from London, Birmingham and Cardiff direct to Llandudno Junction, from where it's a five minute trip on the branch line alongside the estuary, with views of Conwy Castle on the opposite shore, to reach Llandudno proper. How cheap it is depends on where you're coming from and how far in advance you book.

The Conwy Valley line which runs from Llandudno via Betws-y-Coed down to Blaenau Ffestiniog is also a nice day out. You won't find a better place to go walking in the woods than Betws.

I'd also give a shout out for the Cambrian Coast line, the only slight downside is that it's slow going due to the number of stops along the way. The terminus is at Pwllheli which is one of my favourite places and a great base from which to explore the Llŷn Peninsula.
The fridge is empty, the walls are damp, there's no hot water

What's your starting point? Depending where you're going from can make a heck of a difference to how easy a train journey would be

Swanage - easy to get to by train, nice beaches, plenty of walks, nice pubs, good camping as well as B&Bs.

If you like outdoor activities how about Morfa Bay Outdoor Centre, you can stay in the bunkhouse and they can arrange to pick you up from the station. The Centre is in Pembrokeshire near to St Davids.

    As above Swanage is nice.
What about Dawlish or Dawlish warren... lots of holiday park at Dawlish warren. Lovely beach at both, with nature reserve at Warren. Easy train ride into Teignmouth from there too.

Looe is another nice place, very scenic rail journey to Looe. and you can get the bus along to Polperro.

Camber Sands, lovely beach with dunes. train to rye then bus
